I know exactly that, my planned dinner turned into just a cheese & onion sandwich
Oh, and the last lump of Xmas pud with yoghurt
Feeling much improved now, must have been all that healthy yoghurt;)Eight out of ten owners who expressed a preference said their cats preferred other peoples gardens0 -
Good evening everyone,
Today has just disappeared.
Farway - hope you feel better:)
Holly - cake sounds just the ticket after the rigors of an ultrasound:)
Weatherwise it was much better today very still and calm though overcast until mid-afternoon when a heavy fog came in. It's very rare to get fog here - I'm only a few miles from (Glasgow) Prestwick airport which is famous for being fog-free!
My sister popped round for lunch and a natter so I made us bagels with cream cheese, peppered beef and pickles. They were really tasty. I cooked a turkey mince, courgette & aubergine curry in the slowcooker so that can have a "think" overnight so the flavours can mingle. Tonight it sausages with onions, mushrooms LO cauli cheese and of course some gravy:D0 -
Today really should be chilli day. I've bought onions and peppers and I've got beef mince.... and then I'd planned to make a bit extra and set that aside to cook on top of nachos.... but I've now eaten all but about 6 of the nachos, so don't have enough of those....
But that chilli needs to get made today.
I have a whole bag of onions .... say 12-15 little ones ... the chilli will use the smallest one.
I have a pack of 3 peppers ....the chilli will use ½; I have to decide which one ... can't cut all three for "variety" as that's a waste and they'd then all need to be frozen.
The mince is frozen, so I just tip out what I need.
As for the beans bit .... I might just give that a miss as it complicates things. I think I've got a tin of kidney beans, but if I open it then I have to either choose to have 2/3rds of a can in the fridge .... or make 3x the amount of chilli I planned to. Neither is an option I relish .... so I'll just leave out beans entirely.
And that's how it is... you have an idea, you buy stuff in to make it - and then you have a HUGE PILE of food to either use up or freeze.... the onions won't go off for some weeks, but I need to not forget the peppers. I "could" make some chilli/rice stuffed peppers... easy enough - but there's a real shortage of enthusiasm.
Could make .... can make .... have the stuff. No enthusiasm, don't actually fancy eating that this week, don't fancy eating that this week ... so then you get "could make it, but don't fancy it, so there's no point".
I usually only fancy things I can't have - not what I can have0 -
I didn't have pasta in the end as I was too tired to cook. I'm going to make pasta with lots of veggies and pesto for lunch.
I've had a bagel and a yoghurt today so far. Lots of tea too.:)0 -

I've got this problem today. I really fancy a home made fish pie. I would need to get the fish out of the freezer and defrost it in the nuker, and go and get some potatoes, I've only got little baby ones. I'm going to the Supermarket this evening with someone else but that's after dinner.

Afternoon everyone,
I'm back to fairly normal eating today after yesterday. So I had Greek yoghurt with some berries for breakfast and a tuna mayo sandwich for lunch.
Dinner will be a grilled chicken breast with baby potatoes and steamed veg. Something plain and easy.
I think a crumpet will probably feature somewhere as well.

Hello all
I have just unearthed some tuna steaks from the freezer dated November 2016. They were bought frozen.
Two questions:
Do you think they will be ok to eat now?
How best to defrost and cook them?
TIA'I'm sinking in the quicksand of my thought
And I ain't got the power anymore'0 -
I succumbed to a tin of TESCOs broccoli n stilton soup yesterday, n was sooo sick afterwards, never again!
I never eat tinned soup, but needed a quick tea 😶"You can't stop the waves, but you can learn to surf"

Well that sounds awful folk. One pot meals using a pressure cooker makes dinner time quick and easy. Weeknight meals for the family made in minutes for busy schedules.0
