    Good evening everyone,

Farway - I always think cheap sausages are never worth the money! If you CBA one way to make them tastier is to defrost & skin them, mix the "meat" with some breadcrumbs, diced onion, dried sage (or some dried stffing mix) add a splosh of Lea&Perrins and mix into balls. Nice with gravy & mash or in tomato sauce with pasta/rice:).

It's been cold & tipping it down today. I was lateish up so didn't bother with breakfast but had a naughty but nice cooked lunch of lorne sausage, tattie scone, fried egg and tomatoes. Dinner is the lamb shank I cooked yesterday with some cauliflower cheese, runner & broad beans, slowcooked onion and "proper" gravy made from the juices from cooking the lamb. I'll not bother with spuds as that's more than enough. They'll be cauli cheese LO and probably some gravy but they'll either get used or frozen:)
  • Right - had some carrots in the fridge from before trip and picked up an idea from friends that fed me a couple of meals whilst there.

They made me a homemade vegetable soup with beans in and a dollop of hummus in the middle (ie to make it creamy - in lieu of using cream per se). It was nice.

Think I might have a go at making carrot and tomato soup with beans in and a dollop of hummus on top accordingly tomorrow.

I think I'll do the toast/cheese/beans thing again for breakfast.... still trying to get through these cheese slices... (11 in a pack). And, once finished.... I still have another unopened packet as I bought THREE of them! Some are destined for some form of cheesy quichey thing shortly though (I bought milk!).
  • I had oats today, but I didn't have them hot as I just soaked them overnight in some almond milk. I then added some blueberries, flaxseeds and a soya fruit yoghurt this morning. Hmm, it wasn't bad.

I decided to eat out for lunch today as I have to go into central London.:) I haven't decided where to eat yet so I will update you guys with the details when I get home.:D

Thanks Caron, I "never" buy cheap sausages, but in this instance a brand name, R1chmond, overpowered my caution. Lesson re -learned

I am in the final, and possibly lethal, throes of Man Flu

Up at 0230 with cup of Lemsip, watching carp TV. But it did the job, back to bed and slept through until gone 7, finally out of my deathbed around 0830

Decided to stay indoors today, drizzly & damp outside anyway

Breakfast was Greek yoghurt with honey stirred in, hopefully helping my sore throat

Lunch will be a tin of soup. I bought some from Lild ages ago for just this type of event. I think it will be the tomato one, over 90% tomatoes as opposed to the chicken one which is 3% chicken.

Dinner is planned to be the LO cold boiled spuds from last week, sliced & fried in butter with the last 2 of my eggs poured on omelette style, maybe sprinkled grated cheese on top. Easy and fairly wholesome

Hope you feel better soon. Good job you had some supplies in to cover this eventuality.
  • The restaurant I was going to try was closed! I had to grab a houmous wrap from (Pret, I think it was?) but I feel hungry again now.:p

I think I might just make something very easy like pasta with olive oil and tomatoes tonight.

  • Afternoon everyone,

I had to have an ultrasound this afternoon and I couldn't eat for 6 hours before, so that meant no lunch :(.

So I had a very large breakfast of two eggs scrambled on toast, a slice of toast, a Greek yoghurt with honey and a banana.

By the time I got back I was of course really hungry even though I shouldn't have been. I think it is just the thought that I couldn't eat. That resulted in the opening of a tin of rice pudding and just eating it with a spoon :D. I just had to have something, and that hit the spot.

I intend to have a lamb burger with chips and beans for dinner this evening, followed by a large slice of cake and custard. Just to help me get over today of course :).

No left-overs or waste though :).

I've just had a cake.... not the best of choices, but it was the easiest thing to cook right that minute that I hadn't cooked for a few months.

If I'd been asked what I'd intended to do today I'd have said: make a chilli and then top nachos with that and cheese and grill the lot ....

But ... well ... you know how it is. CBA.

Cake is always a good choice :D.
