Have not been on scales since op on 16th but am asking if anyone knows if the new hip will "show up" when I do get on scales. Like to have advanced knowledge so I will not freak out if I have put on loads even though my eating has been a bit hit and miss and have been very careful. Thanks.
Panic not - I had both hips replaced about 3yrs ago within 6 weeks of each other. Firstly, you tend to lose weight when your are in hospital. Secondly, don't forget you will not have the weight of your old hip and the third thing is you will have no pain in that hip and will be naturally more active because of that.
The main thing is, do your exercises every day to get your mobility back, I still do mine. The one I found best was to stand in front of the sink holding the sink lightly and sway from side to side, trying to sway a little further each week.
Does it matter if you have put on a few pounds? You have obviously lost weight for the op so you can do it again.
In about 6weeks time you will be pain free and start to forget you ever had a new hip, the recovery rate is excellent.
Please don't laugh but when they were taking my medical history for an op I had to have earlier this year I genuinely forgot to mention my hip replacements until my DH reminded me - they are that good.:D

A sts for me. I know I hadn't been quite so good this week!
Worklifebalance I'm in with a 100,000 step challenge, a little harder with children off, but I'm sure they will sleep well keeping up lol.
Great!! Nice to have some company on the journey. Doing good so far - over 30,000 steps but i have to confess to a chocolate brownie.

1 lb loss this week.
I got an email a few days ago from MFP telling me it was 5 years since I'd joined, so thought it might be a good idea to start using it again. It certainly makes me think a bit more about what I'm eating when I'm seeing the calories counting up on the site.
If you could live one day of your life over again, which day would you choose?0 -

I've been MIA the last few weeks, been a bit frantic. My friend and her son moved, so 2 weekends were involved in shifting her stuff and cleaning her son's flat for the hand-back to the agents. Then my daughter moved, so more shifting of stuff, lugging boxes, looking after grandson etc. My other daughter moved a few weeks ago into a house that needs a lot of work, so any spare time (ha, ha!) we have on the weekend, we're over hers. Only one more house move to help with; our last daughter is moving from renting to owned but no official date for that yet.
In the meantime, my in laws have had some medical problems, so I've spent many an hour on the phone to various agencies trying to help sort that out, but it's still on-going. What with all that running about, missed meals, grabbed snacks, lack of time to go swimming, my weight has gone up and down, so I've decided to start again from today.
This morning is a gain of 1/2 lb, so I need to lose 1 more pound to get to where I would like to be (and where I was a few weeks ago, dammit!) Still, could be worse.
Happy Sunday everyone, keep smiling! x0
