I'm doing Slimming World NewShadow. I do go to group because our sessions are so funny that I come out struggling to breathe from laughing so much some weeks. We don't micro examine every meal that every member has had each week either like some groups do. Having tried to lose as much as possible previously and not being successful I have faced up to the fact that I am a slow loser.

I will never be a "5 lbs in a week slimmer of the week" but when I restarted SW this year I set myself a goal of losing a pound a week as long as nothing else goes wrong. I had a rather nasty accident last September which did a lot of long term damage to my leg so I'm only just beginning to be able to exercise more than a slow walk. A pound a week also fits nicely around whatever is passing for a social life in my part of the world. In 12 weeks I have lost 13 lbs and have not had any gains. I'm happy with that so good luck to you and your 1 lb a week :)

Hi, folks....hope that everyone is feeling positive. I have just cycled over Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor...and eaten a great deal.

I would like to lose another 4kg....

My weight is a bit stuck and when I try to lose more to satisfy my ferocious Doctor, I get impossibly hungry...

    Then binge.

This will now stop as I had a lo vely carvery lunch today with lots of veg and go home this week where I shall eat more modestly....big on boiled eggs!

    Brilliant.

I get grumpy when I'm tired and group takes nearly 3 hours - after work - just means I end up being grumpy about people self sabotaging/making excuses.

    Then I feel guilty.

Then I think bad things about myself.

    Then I self sabotage...

Either work needs to become less pressured or I need to stay away from group (and only one of those things is within my control:o).

Update on today - mostly stuck to plan.

There was an unexpected pair of dark chocolate corn thins and 400g of tuna steak but it's all tracked within my calories in mfp so I'm not going to feel bad about it.

JustEat gave me a 25% discount code and while I couldn't resist placing an order, rather than bingeing on Chinese (my downfall), I ordered some tomato based pasta dishes from a local 'Italian' place.

These are now in the fridge and will be eaten over the next couple of days as part of a normal meal plan.

    Baby steps.
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

Tuesday - another day on plan (so far)

Breakfast = roast pepper and mushroom omelette
    Lunch = Spaghetti Bolognese (takeaway)
Dinner = beef one pot (beef, tomatoes, passata, courgette, peppers, spinach, Prymat Gyros Seasoning)
That sounds like a classic case of premature extrapolation.

    Hi NewShadow

I'm also following Slimming World but go it alone, I did try group last year but couldn't get along with it, I think the group were not very welcoming and very cliquey. I only spoke to the leader once and she didn't even acknowledge me for the rest of the time I went. So I have my books and I follow from home. There is a very helpful website called pinch of nom who have excellent sw receipes that even hubby enjoys (and he's quite picky!)

  • Oh, it is good to see other people doing the same thing as I am! I'm doing a 90 day Weight Loss/Mobility and Movement challenge to myself. I haven't set a target for lbs lost but overall, I would be satisfied with 14lb/1 stone, so that's what I'm aiming for. Most importantly I want to eat planned meals, balanced and nutritious, heavy on the veggies. I'm cooking from scratch, pretty much everything except bread and pasta but I don't think I'll be going mad on either of those. Once I've got those habits down, I'm going to focus more on portion sizes.

I'm so glad there are other people out there doing this. I am not a great lover of slimming groups in the conventional sense. Having you people here will make a big difference. :-)

Good luck to all who want to lose weight. Support is great.

Two years ago I hit a heavier weight than when pregnant, 11st 4lbs.

Luckily, DD had bought us Micheal Mosley's book, Intermittent Fasting the 5:2 Diet. I lost 2st, OH lost 3st by the autumn.

A brilliant way of eating, which is also MSE as we usually have two meals a day. And because of the flexibility, there is no need to make an issue of being 'on a diet' if there is an occasion involving food.

There is a great website and forum where I had lots of support and still do on maintenance.
