  • Hello again,

I’ve submitted my witness statement and received a letter from Gladstones stating their client will not be attending court. The court date is imminent.
This has been going on for nearly two years now and I have recently moved house. I informed the county of this. I have now received a letter off Gladstones stating they have received my WS but need to verify my identity due to change of address. They are asking for a bill/bank statement.

I’m not sure if this is of any significance?

All you need to give them is an address for service.

You do not even need to live there, so it is possible there are no relevant utility bills, and if you weren't living there there would probably be no bank statement with that address on it..

Send them a copy of your V5c with a letter telling them that as the registered keeper all you are doing is notifying then of your current address for service and will they please adjust their records appropriately.

Alternatively, you could send them a utility bill.

    Your choice.
  • Thanks Keith
  • Hello again,

Just a quick update, I have won my case! I just want to say a very big thank you to all those who have contributed and offered advice and help to my thread. Indeed a huge thank you to this forum and those who have contributed. I would have been in a very expensive pickle without the help and advice offered here and am truly grateful. I wouldn’t have known where to start to defend my case otherwise.

    Thanks again :j

    Well done Willow.

Please let us have some more details about how it all went on the day.
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

    Well done Willow229:beer:

Guess it was just another incompetent day in the Gladstones empire
  • No I attended court, the case was heard in front of a judge. SIP did not send a representative today. I think this worked in my favour.

The judge struck the claim out in my favour as he states SIP had failed to prove that I had not correctly displayed my ticket. Gladstones had also not submitted a witness statement! I only realised this when I was sat waiting to go in before the judge.

I was very nervous and can’t recall all the judge said, but it wasn’t as bad as I was expecting.

Yay, well done, yet another one bites the dust! :T
The judge struck the claim out in my favour as he states SIP

    :D

LOL, I misread that as ''The judge struck the claim out in my favour as he hates SIP''!

... which might also be true with some judges, many of whom have a very low view of the parking industry. Any Judges who don't, need to wake up and smell the coffee of the scam industry - wakey wakey, Judges at Swansea, get your heads out of the sand.
Gladstones had also not submitted a witness statement!
Did you claim your costs for attending? I really hope you did.
