SIP parking fine passed to Gladstones

Hello,
I'm looking for some advice on how to proceed with a parking fine I have received.
I parked my car and paid for a ticket, displayed it on the dash, it was a windy day and when I got back to the ticket was in the foot well and I had received a parking ticket. This was in a SIP carpark in Manchester.
I discussed this with some work colleagues and was advised to just ignore it. I have so far ignored the letters from SIP. I have not responded to any of them.
I have now received a letter from Gladstones advised I will be taken to court if I do not pay £160 within 14 days.
I still have the parking ticket that was displayed on the dash so have proof that I did indeed purchase a ticket to park.
I am unsure how to proceed next.
Many thanks in advance for any help.

The letter is from Gladstones. I am to pay them within 14 days. There is no signature.
The letter instructs me to telephone them within 14 days to pay.0 -
It's a debt collector letter at this stage. You could respond and deny any debt to their client. Tell them if it goes to court you will vigorously and robustly defend.
I have to say that many SIP cases get to court, but with a good defence, their portly unshaven employee has few answers.
Presumably you will be asking your 'expert' work colleagues to help you develop your court defence? Or will they suggest you ignore court papers too? Useless, clueless advice from them.
Why did you blindly take their 'advice'?

So respond directly to SIP and state I did have a valid ticket and that it was in the footwell?0

OK, well please tell your friends they are wrong.
Did you not get a letter offering an independent appeals service ?0 -

No - too late to deal with SIP now. Everything will be through Gladstones. They won't be interested in where your ticket ended up, or how unfair this is as you'd paid to park.
All they are interested in is grabbing your money. You have to fight this. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

@beamerguy No, got a final reminder from SIP stating they may refer to Gladstones. Then received letter from Gladstones.0

It starts with a 10

It starts with a 1
Then that is from Gladstones (not pimped out to a Debt Recovery agency).
