Sigh. Everyone has terrible colds, tho not covid thank goodness, a close relative has been sent home for palliative care, and now the fridge freezer is making a sound like a generator on its last legs. We have at least ordered a new one of those with tcb. Not the best week.2

Okay new mortgage sorted at a cost of just slightly more than £120 more a month. On the other hand just rang up internet providers and reduced that bill by £30 a month so that's only £90 to find...2

Sorry to hear about your relative. Sounds like a tough time.

I read back through your diary this morning - particularly like the gardening info. I did giggle that you went missing for two years and then popped back up with some overpayments. My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

They still count. We started off by just rounding down and then got carried away.My mortgage free diary: https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6498069/whoops-here-comes-the-cheese

£2.48 TCB claimed and op'd.
Found 1p roadkill yesterday so will need to bank that!
Second fb marketplace item leaving the house today so will need to list a couple more things. Slowly decluttering and adding to ops as we go.

So I did leave my diary for 2 years but part of the problem was feeling the need to do a big catch up. So I just started instead.
Got OH on board more than vaguely about being MF and so am going to see what can be achieved with the little and often approach. The PAD way does seem to work for me better and with the way the interest works on the mortgage better to pay odd anything asap.
Worked out this week that approx 535 comes off the principal from the normal payment, leaving 763 as the amount we're paying in interest. This absolutely horrified me - we're paying about 10 more a day in interest on our "new" fix (almost 2 years old) than the old one.
When the electric/gas dd was reduced at the start of this month I started a regular standing order of the difference which is 55.51 pcm.
Now I also need to look at personal spending. Our budget is based on my base salary, but I have a responsibility payment of about 500 a month for the next 3 years. 1 year of thay already gone and just fritters away. If I divide that between my LISA (already has 30 going in monthly) then I can fill my LISA allowance each year and then OP by the remainder. I need to decide if I'm going to try and balance it to make up for the missed months to date or just go from now. It might all be moot after the budget mind you!2
