Thanks I am going to get a nice cup of tea (try and calm down) and then read through it all. The company once gave me a written warning without any hint or notice. I never even had a verbal warning. They all said it was wrong and apologised but it was never struck from my 'record'. At the end of the phonecall he did mummer 'i will send this to you in writing and you can write back if you want'. The only reason they phoned is because I was sick yesterday when I was supposed to be in London and they didn't want to wait until I was in again
I got a rotten cold, no job and well its getting me down
Thanks for the support you guys

As well as all the good advice here, contact as many IT job agencies as you can, there is no reason why you shouldnt have a new job within 10 days.
Might not be exactly what you want but you will be able to bring some money in.0 -
not only that but get yourself off to some temp agencies, maybe make some appointments right now over the phone! if nothing else, it will make you feel like you're crawling out of the hole making progress (and take your mind off the cold etc.!) rather than sitting in the bottom:A0

Follow the advice to contact ACAS rather than the CAB, but in the meantime you need to try and get out there and get your CV sent out to as many agencies etc as you can.

Have nothing constructive to say but I just wanted to wish you luck with your job search. This could be the start of a great new stage in your life. There may have been benefits to your job but the next job might be just the thing.
Take care x:A

I think it's shocking you were fired like that, and I wouldn't go without a fight. Ask for a written explanation as to why you were fired, for one, with documented proof. Companies can't just fire you on a whim, it takes time, and they need to back everything up they do.
I'd also contact someone high up within the company expressing how unhappy you are that you were fired so rudely (whilst ill - it's actually against most HR rules to ring someone at home when they are ill, especially for something so serious).
Speak to the CAB, as soon as you have the letter from HR. Don't let them treat you like this - take a stand. Good luck x0 -
I would like to know whether the OP has a contract of employment, without which she doesn't really have much of a leg to stand on.
Working from home for an Internet company sounds distinctly self-employed to me. I had a friend who did data input from home, but it was on a casual basis and she had no formal agreement with the people who sent her the work.
I hope I am wrong, but my instinct says to check your contract - if you have one.I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

This is what she has just sent me.
no contract.... received the following e-mail
Further to the conference call earlier today between ourselves and XXXX at which we discussed your employment I confirm the reason for your dismissal
We consider that you are unsuitable for the position as employed given the concerns we hold regarding your performance. That is, we are of the opinion that your performance is not up to the standard required. Your performance was discussed with you on several occasions in recent months. However, we have not seen sufficient improvement during that time. Thus it is unfortunate that we have to confirm your dismissal. Your employment will terminate on 31st October 2007.
All outstanding monies owed and your P45 will be forwarded to you in due course.Help me to help you :santa2:0 -
Even if performance has been discussed with an employee, they dhould have a written record of this, and an agreed action plan - ie the help they are going to give you and what they expect you to do - and timescales. Both yourself and your manager should have signed and dated this. If they do not have this then they dont have a leg to stand on.0
