Rock, you say you already have 2 credit cards (Barclaycard and Capital One). If the idea is to improve your credit rating then just use those and pay them off promptly each month. It won't make much difference to your credit rating having another card and if you have too many it will start to count against you.
Another option is to buy something small from one of the catalogue companies (e.g. Grattan). They allow you to pay in weekly installments at 0% which quickly builds up a repayment history.0 -
When I got my Cap1 (classic card with £200 deposit) a month ago, I went to buy the elvis collection from HMV as my first purchase and at the counter was asked if I wanted the store card (HMV branded Style card) and to my shock I was accepted and to cap it all with 750 credit limit.
Within a week Barclaycard accepted me and also JJB sports (duet) store card.
I'm still in shock at all this acceptance. I'll refuse the next one tbh

ROCK
I see that you are quite keen to get hold of an application form. The one I have is pre-populated with my home address and has a tracker code on it, although they don't have my name, of course. You should be better off applying to them fresh by phone. Note that the annual fee is £19 - it will cost you to use this card

Ha!
I'd just call Vanquis and apply over the phone.
Kind regards
whats wrong with 2 credit cards?0 -
I assumed you had just the Cap1 and not the Barclaycard already with your desire to apply for the Vanquis card. Meaning surely you could successfully apply for a better APR card than going for a considerably worse APR card.

This link gives the details for Provident (the parent company) - they will politely say they can't help and give the following number for Vanquis:
0870 850 7755
Give them a ring and just hold past the automated system and ask the operator for an application form to be sent to you.
This card does seem like a good deal if your credit rating is in tatters - as long as you can keep up paying in full each month, otherwise the initial 59.9% APR will hurt!0 -
I also got a Vanquis application in the mail today and also binned it.
They target people with bad credit? And hope they will apply for the card.
I have a Capital one visa, and I don’t need a Bloody Vanquis card with an interest rate higher than a nudist beach?
My capital one is high enough? But I don’t mind that and in a bit it will drop hopefully.I'm not poor i'm just skint0 -
I got a Vanquis application in the mail today
'Spose I'd better slow down on the applications...
It went straight in the bin. 0 -
I got another today also! That's a rate of one a month ... My recent activities since my last mailshot from them is accepted by HMV (branded) Style store card, accepted for Barclaycard and accepted for JJB Sports (branded) Duet store card.
Does Experian inform them or something?

Have just received one today and it has gone straight in the bin. What Friends Provident are doing should be made illegal.0
