MSE 95% but application denied!

I find the eligibility checker a bit rubbish, I had a 90% chance of a TSB credit card it was declined. I had 0% chance of an Amex card and it was approved. :rotfl::rotfl:0

Try appealing the decision, worked for me a couple of years ago for the Clarity card. If successful you'll get a letter with a provisional offer and you'll have to ring to apply.0

I suspect the eligibility score is more about marketing the cards than any assessment of how credit worthy you are.0

Then you are basically saying that all the claims made by MSE of being independent and fair and not being influenced by affiliated links. So their entire Editorial Code is basically a "lie".

That's a pretty big claim to make, what evidence do you have of that?0 -
Your assertion is completely wrong.0

Hi there,
I used MSE pre approval and had 100% for a virgin credit card and found out today it had been declined. I've tried to get my report from Experian but they're saying 5 more days for ID checks and I'm worried sick, supposed to be buying a house this year and I've never been behind on any payment. Does anyone have any advice? I wish I hadn't even applied for it now.0 -
No need for sickness. Being declined a card doesn't mean you have a CCJ or are bankrupt.
Make sure you get all three of your files and review them before your mortgage application.0 -
If you want a CC quickly with no transaction fees in Europe, and you're in the south east, you could try Metro bank.
I went with a friend who took ID and bank statements into a branch. After about 45 mins, he walked out of the branch with a new account, plus a debit card and credit card that had been printed/embossed in the branch.
FWIW, he was asked what credit limit he wanted on the CC - he said £2k. The computer system approved the £2k - but the staff member seemed slightly surprised. Maybe they typically give lower limits.0 -
OP - The free versions to check your credit files are below:
Experian: https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/creditclub
Equifax: https://www.clearscore.com
Call Credit: https://www.noddle.co.uk
Also, you might want to put in an application for Creation, they are very generous with limits and tend to be lenient regarding applicants;
