Well, it's my son's 10th birthday on Saturday the 6th October, so I won't expect him to get any presents or cards in the post!

As many of our relatives live a long way a way, that is disappointing for him!!!!! He has been looking forward to his birthday for months and he is such a good boy. He deserves to have a lovely birthday.

Not only that, we are expecting a couple of cheques, so I will stop expecting them. Sigh.

Snap here. I understand the reasoning for the stikes, but it's a bit disappointing for my OH who's having his first birthday away from home with me in the big City and none of his families cards have made it on time. Nor has one of his presents from me I ordered online. Doh.

    I've been Money Tipped!
but you are letting people down companys often go back on their word my oh works in the construction industry and if he went on strike every time he didnt get some thing he was promised then he would only work a three day week ok you dont agree with what rm are doing but you are only punishing the public by not deliverying our mail there is a saying dont bite the hand what feeds you

what will happen is that the public will lose faith in the rm and use other companys to deliver the mail and then your company will have to make more cuts to cover the loss this is somthing you cant win find another way to challange your bosses if you have it in writting that they were going to give your more money cant your union take legal action against them rather than just downing tools
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing

We STILL deliver other companies' mail earwig & we don't like to see the general public suffer. I will give you an example of what this strike is about. We currently deliver 3 lots of leaflets to every door on our round, which we get paid 1.67p per item, which averages £25-£35 a week on top of our wages. Royal Mail want us nw to deliver 6 lots & pay us NOTHING to deliver them. You say our OH works in te construction industry. Tell me now,if he was a bricklayer, would he work a day laying bricks for nothing? We do feel sorry for the general public & to be quite frank Royal Mail could no longer give a toss about you as you & i no longer make them money.RM's chief exec. Alan Leighton has already said that items we send to each other do not make Royal Mail money. Believe me now,if RM win this dispute you will soon be paying a hell of alot more to send your ebay items etc. It is also my Daughter's birthday tomorrow so she won't be receiving some cards,it's not nice i know. Do you really think that we want to lose 4 days wages? Why some people in this country have this lay down & get walked all over attitude is beyond me. Many of us cannot afford to strike, but how would you feel if you were all of a sudden expected to take on more work & be told that you were going to be paid over a £1000 a year less?

I do understand... we're working for nothing thanks to the royal mail strike. It's going to be at least 2 weeks by the time our pay cheques arrive and clear. Calling a strike is one thing but leaving the public with no mail for a week is a bit rough.

All of that said, I hope you get the pay and conditions sorted quickly so we can all get on with earning a decent and fair wage.

Like i say Toto,we want it settling asap too. We hate to see the public suffer & i can understand people being unhappy with the situation. All in all,we have lost over £500 so far by striking over the last few months, but we do have to make a stand. The fact that RM's chief executive Alan Leighton & chairman Adam Crozier do not even bother attending the talks with our Union shows how concerned THEY are about the general public. RM & the CWU were close to an agreement earlier in the week but RM weren't prepared to put the issue over our pensions to one side & have talks about that issue at a later date.

I agree you should fight for your pension. I would and so would anyone here I've no doubt. And yes it always seems to be the way that the ordinary person is the one with concerns about how these things effect others. The I'm alright jack, big bosses couldn't give a monkeys.

I think it's a shame that things have to come to this, for all of us, but sometimes we do need to stand up to be counted. I just wish you'd do it next week when I'd been paid! Next time please consult me first :rotfl:

I will only use a courier for ebay sales, I have had enough of the strikers, I have taken my business elsewhere.

hi my oh works as a pipefitter and is constantly having his work changed he is supose to be on bonus so every job they finish on time they get extra but he has never been paid bonus as they promised they would they add more and more to the job so it is imposable to finish on time

also they change his working week from 38 hours to 45 hours per week but dont pay overtime rates for the extra 7 hours (again this was promised) when challange by this he is just told if you dont like it get another job there lots of people queeing for his kind of work

it has nothing to do with the walk over attitude its simple dont work dont get paid you must be able to aford to lose four days pay or you wouldnt be able to strike im not getting at you personal but you cant keep striking just because you arnt getting what you were promised as i said before there must be other route you can try like refusing to deliver the leaflets untill your happy with your pay instaed of out and out striking
i cant slow down i wont be waiting for you i cant stop now because im dancing
