I'm just about to drop some emails to my buyers and put notices in the rest of my auctions.
Or you could also add the option of express parcel delivery at a premium if they choose, so that at least you minimize the risk of losing a potential buyer who does not want to wait for industrial action to cease.0 -

Well, it's my son's 10th birthday on Saturday the 6th October, so I won't expect him to get any presents or cards in the post!
As many of our relatives live a long way a way, that is disappointing for him!!!!! He has been looking forward to his birthday for months and he is such a good boy. He deserves to have a lovely birthday.
Not only that, we are expecting a couple of cheques, so I will stop expecting them. Sigh. Finally Debt Free After 34 Years, But Still Need to Live Frugally

Dear Mr Royal Mail worker,
Thank you for electing to strike. Your decision further confirms the belief that there is no sense in having unions any more, in an age where privatisation of many of the public services is complete.
You have requested that pay should increase to the national average over the next two years. This would amount to a 27% increase in pay. I wonder if you could think for a moment, what makes you worth 27% + Inflation more over the next 2 years, when compared to the rate you were worth yesterday? You work there, you elected to take the pay, conditions, and terms that Royal Mail offer against their competition, who offer a wide variety of opportunities for people of your skill set.
Please also consider, that the national average takes into account of people who earn £50k, £60k, £70k + , who have studied, delivered, built and fought for their careers....why should a distinctly below average career, pay an average national wage? The answer of course is that it shouldn't.
If you don't like the pay, conditions, working hours etc, then rather than strike, try branching out, approaching the competition, bargaining for better conditions outside of the Royal Mail model.... You might find that you are better off doing this, you might find that all Posties are paid the same. Should the latter be the case, then maybe the ambitious amongst you should look at building a career elsewhere, because clearly the postal industry is not for you.
This is the way business works these days. Striking will get you nowhere, other than to cause a loss of revenue for your commercially driven organisation, forcing further job cuts - which is exactly what you are striking against in the first place.
It's really very difficult to see the logic.
Brad
Not had a pay increase for over a year, but fighting to gain promotion in order to get one - maybe you should try it?0 -
I don't think it's fair to tar all royal mail workers with the same brush. A postie friend of mine is being forced to strike just now. He's not unhappy with his working conditions, he's happy with the pay he gets and workloads ect, but for each day he's forced to strike he's loosing out on his wages.Debt free since 2014 - now saving for a mortgage deposit :heart2:

Can anybody recommend any decent alternatives to Royal Mail ?0

Millions Without Mail Amid Post Strike Chaos
By Sky News SkyNews - 34 minutes ago
Millions of homes and businesses will get no post today as Royal Mail workers continue their 48-hour strike.
Tens of thousands walked out yesterday in a bitter row over pay, jobs and pensions.
A second two-day stoppage is planned for Monday.
If it goes ahead, deliveries will not return to normal until next Thursday at the earliest.
Customers have been told not to use the regular post boxes while the industrial action continues.
Royal Mail has gone on the offensive, saying it was "hugely disappointed and extremely concerned" that peace talks had failed.
Trade unions accused ministers of showing "complete disinterest" in the dispute and urged them to intervene.
CWU general secretary Billy Hayes said: "If this was Northern Rock they would be pouring money in.
"This is a company that they own and they seem to have no interest whatsoever.
"There is no indication of their concern in the slightest. The Government have been deafening by their silence."
A spokesman for the Royal Mail said: "Rather than accept a solution the union continues to table unrealistic and unaffordable proposals."

Brad,we were promised a wage of £370 a week under an agreement a cuple of years ago, this wasn't going to be given us all in one go but gradually over 2-3 yeas. RM have gone back on their word over this & under their new agreement want to pay us LESS than we are already on! They have also taken a 17 year payment holiday with our pension contributions without our knowledge and want to make US to pay for the shortfall. Please don't judge us when you don't know all the facts. We aren't on strike for the fun of it.
