You don't need to get in to your Aspire 7520, you should have separate DVD media that you created earlier.
Likely it was 32 bit DVD if you had less than 4GB on board. So install 32 bit for now, once you've updated the firmware. No product key necessary.

Ok, great, thank you, i am going to start it now, just downloading all the files

    i'll be back soon

    Thanks

Find a low capacity USB drive and remove your data from it.

    Plug it into your machine.

    Download and run Rufus

    Choose options;

    rufus_dos_install.png

Leave Cluster Size and Volume Label to their Defaults.

Both MS-DOS and FreeDOS are fine.

    Start when you are ready.

Download and save firmware update files and copy the three files within the folder on to your newly created bootable media.

Turn off/restart laptop and Boot from USB; http://boot-keys.org/notebook/acer/aspire_5315/

At the command prompt type:flash and hit the ENTER key.

    Wait until complete.

Then you can use your old Windows 7 OEM media to run a clean install. The same that you used for the Aspire 7520....and of course complete your CPU upgrade.

Hi thanks, just downloaded the 3 files, do i need to unzip them all?

If you downloaded them as a zip file, then yes. You want just those three files, not the folder in which they are contained.

That is your issue. Single core and underpowered.

You can put a dual core CPU in from a cost of around £4

Hi, this is off the laptop, thanks, can you tell me which one to buy please?

    Thanks

I don't need to read the page. It supports Windows 7, but it was shipped with Vista.

So you don't believe the Acer UK Support Page?
I think this job really needs
    a much bigger hammer.

Seriously my friend. I just explained it to you. A machine can have been sold with Windows XP. But if the manufacturer decides to support it all the way to Windows 10, then you will be able to download Windows 10 related firmware/software from the manufacturer's website.

So if you go back to that page, but you click on the dropdown arrow, you will see the downloads for the earlier OS there.
If it was shipped with Windows 7, there would be no need for Vista Drivers on the website.
