hi, just to let you know that I've just heard back from Paypal and they've ruled in my favour. Yay!
They haven't said I need to send the tickets back but I would have been quite happy to bear that cost as I was only expecting him to refund me the face value of the tickets (I've never had this before either so wasn't sure but expect the least and you can't be disappointed) but it appears I'll be getting the full amount back - a lesson to him, if he happens to read this!

Good result. Do double check they haven't asked you to send them back, they usually require a tracked return before the funds are released.
