The connection ratio issue would BT supplied line users suffer in the same way or would it be different?0

Although only anacdotal 'internet chatter' it seems VM have 'over utilisation' problems in some areas , complaints tend to be along the lines that in quiet periods , sort of 23.00-15.00 things are OK, but peak traffic times 15.00-23.00, things can slow right down, Openreach can suffer with the same thing, but less internet chat/complaint about it0 -

Find it interesting that Virgin seems to receive more complaints on contention ratios when compared to Openreach, wonder why that is? Is it because Virgin tends to offer quicker speeds so therefore more noticeable during slow down?
BT don't and haven't used contention ratios for a long time now.
There are occasionally "hot VP" issues which is similar to the Virgin over utilisation issues. Hot VP's can be sorted quite quickly though by BT wholesale increasing the bandwith available over the VP or by moving circuits around to spread the load.
With Virgin however it often requires physical upgrade of the equipment and it can take many many months, if ever at all.0 -
I had it fitted. It's a second floor flat, with scaffolding around currently. At first the guy was sort of trying to get out of it lol, because the cable route was difficult but i just jumped out onto the scaffolding and guided the cable down the wall other than that was pretty easy and pain free.
It is faster than what i was getting from bt.
I hear some people saying things like switching your wifi channels etc can make it faster?
My wifi speeds it like 180mbps and upload is 20mps
Bt was 13mbps and upload was 1 mbps.
i didnt test the speed with the cable plugged in yet.0 -
And yes you have to be careful what you believe with these things, its the same with all companies they over sell and try to trick you etc but ultimately its up to us to read the terms.
One thing i did find interesting is the media sales guy said you dont need the 300 the 200mbps would do but i just went with the 300 anyway to be safe.0 -
10-20 would be fine for most consumers many web sites don't get faster the more speed you have .0
