Best value low-use PAYG

Any suggestions what is the best value low use PAYG at the moment?

Probably only send about 50 texts per month and almost never use it to make a call. Just don't want to get tied into something which requires regular credit top-up that I am never going to use.

1p Mobile, although I think you have to top up every 120 days.

As per the previous post, Three are very good value on PAYG, a top up doesn't expire, need regular topping up nor do you need to buy a bundle.

It's 3p/min, 2p/text and 1p/MB. Also some international calls are only 3p/min, for example USA and Spain (annoyingly their international calls to the same countries on contract SIMs are very expensive).

I looked at 1p mobile until, as you say, I found that you need to top-up £10 every four months which is likely more than I would use in that time. Will have a look into 'Three'.

    I think 3 requires you have a 3G compatible phone ?

    Thanks for your advice.

Asda looks to be about the best package at the moment, will call in store tomorrow and pick-up an Asda sim.

Tesco Lite has the same rates for calls and texts as Asda. They run on the O2 network and give Clubcard points on top ups: http://www.tescomobile.com/help-and-support/1818-call-charges/1819-pay-as-you-go/pay-as-you-go-lite-call-charges

Might be worth asking a few people / checking the coverage checkers to see whether O2 or EE (that Asda run on) are best in your area.

If you apply for both online they are free and arrive quickly. The Asda one even has a few bob on it ready to use

You can then pop either / both in your phone and see what sort of signal you have and choose wahtever one you like from there on

Tesco. As long as you make an occasional call every 3 months, or send a text, (all for under 10p) it never dies. And O2 coverage.

This is the Lite version only. The main one is fairly standard PAYG at 25p/min and 10p/text. It seems they don't send out separate sims but it sounds like it's a simple case of getting a sim and calling up 282 to switch to Lite.
