RyanAir Refund

Options
Hi :-)

Had an issue at the airport where I had both my outbound and inbound boarding passes but they still charged me £100 for printing them out again. I am disabled so had a carer with me but they needed to reprint them so we could sit together.

When I go to the refund page at RyanAir, I can't find the relevant section to ask for a refund. As it wasn't a cancelled flight is there such a thing for disputed fees?

By law if I'm not able to fend for myself on a flight I have to have someone with me (according to both UK and EU aviation laws) so did I really have to pay £100 for that?

It sounds as though you are a casualty of the Ryanair policy of splitting up travel companions. If your carer has to sit next to you then Ryanair should accommodate that. Your best bet may to to write to head office, requesting a refund.

agree - OP the bit that you also may want to include is that their FAQs state
"Where a reduced mobility passenger is travelling with an accompanying adult, we will do our best to ensure the accompanying passenger is seated next to them."
In addition the fee for reprinting boarding pass at the airport should be £15 according to their fees table and the £50 fee would relate to you not having checked in..which you had
It sounds like they offloaded you both and checked you in again at the airport triggering the airport checkin fee which should definitely warrant refunding

You had both outbound & inbound boarding passes with you & had to have them reprinted because you were not sat together ??
Did you not look at the seat numbers before then ??
Surely that would have been uppermost in your mind if you have to be accompanied by a carer !!
Or am I missing something here...........

Did you not contact the special assistance team beforehand?
  • You might want to look at this and understand why you need to make a complaint to get a proper understanding.
I would say that you need to talk to airlines before you fly best before you book.
You should not make any assumptions about what to expect particularly with likes of Ryanair.
Needing assistance might not always equate to being seated together (IMHO).

    Hi,

Yes the boarding passes did have special assistance printed on them but when we checked in online we noticed the seats were not together so raised the issued at the airport.

On the return journey the hotel manager sorted the issue out together and printed the tickets out for us.

From my understanding, RyanAir did change seats so we could sit together on the plane outbound, but charged us £100 (£50 each) to print out new boarding passes.
