As long as youy don't have to touch it yes. Android does well with voice commands for me.

I thought the offence was in holding the phone not touching it?

What's anti-cyclist/cycling about what they've posted? Isn't a cyclist also a road user worthy of consideration?

If i'm right this will turn into a "well I saw a cyclist using their phone, if drivers can't use them then why should cyclists be allowed?", then we'll get 50 pages of anti-cyclist rhetoric and stereotyping based on kids/teenagers riding bicycles in a poor manner.

It is, see the quote from the regulations in post 8.

But isn't that a valid question?

Touching a phone that's not mechanical fixed to the vehicle would be an offence.

The OP previously started a thread about cyclists but insisted on ignoring or excluding cyclists from it. To them a cyclist wasn't a road user worthy of consideration.

There is a very simple solution to this question.

When you are driving your ton plus of potentially lethal car concentrate on the task at hand. I don't understand why any driver would allow themselves to be distracted by making phone calls regardless of hand held or hands free mobile.

You would be amazed at the number of people who have had very serious at fault accidents including fatalities who then complain when their insurer refuses to talk to them whilst they are driving.

As long as the phone stays in the cradle, there is no offence of touching it.

As above, either drive a car or use a phone. Doing both at the same time is dangerous.
