Could someone please explain to me how if there is a cap on pay increases in the public sector, the Chief Exec of my local council has just been given a 24K pay rise, taking the salary up to £175.000pa?0

Perhaps his/her remuneration is set by someone other than Government?“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0 -
It looks like the PS wage cap is coming to an end. Welcome news.

Looking forward to it.
Just been promoted, so this would be perfect. :T0 -
It might be a tad too late for the Prison Service unfortunately. The cuts have created a basket case service that even with inflation busting pay awards it will still remain a wholly unattractive service to work for. That may or may not be a situation that is replicated in other front line services.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0

When was the last time the Prison Service was an attractive service to work for?0

It sounds counter-intuitive I know.
Although it's never appealed to everyone, no one ever seemed to leave until a few short years ago. We now have a situation where to boast about a net gain of 800 prison officers, they actually have to train up 3000. Another three 'disturbances' last week will soon eat into those 800 I'm sure.“Britain- A friend to all, beholden to none”. 🇬🇧0
