I know this has been done a thousand times before, but there are new people joining all the time, looking for advice, so let's just give the benefit of our experience and pass on the ONE tip you think might help.

Mine is - think about wether you want to give out your real dob to random strangers. I always use my 'comping dob', which is one month and one year different from my real dob. I'm taking a chance, as technically I could be eliminated for not giving it, but I'd always plead 'fat fingers' if required, I just think I'd rather preserve my personal details for data protection. :D

Enter a comp - move on to next one...forget about it...if you win is a nice surprise! Also do not expect to win...a lot of effort is involved even for a small win nowadays!

My One tip would be to open up a new email address for comping (but don't use something like mycompingaddress@blahblah.com) ... or at least setup an alias in Hotmail (google it for how to do it).

(You can also then use that address to open up a new Facebook / Twitter account if you need to)

Don't try and enter everything or you'll have no life and a houseful of crap.

But on the other side... do enter lots of competitions, including low value ones, or else you risk ending up being one of the many people who moan about never winning.

In fact, number 1 tip, please don't post a thread about why are you the one who never wins, in general, but in particular if you have only entered competitions for holidays, TVs and money.

My number one tip would be to keep an eye open for sneaky little tick boxes that say the competition host can share your details with the world and his wife.

You WILL NOT win lots by entering 10 competitions per day

when major holidays/seasons and events roll around some companies ask for photos- it's handy to have a folder of pictures of things like your Christmas tree/pumpkin/snowman/pet/holiday/world Book Day/bake-fail ect at the ready in a folder to just post-so as these events happen, take pictures and load them into a folder and hang onto them for the right season!
