There have been many more significant and important "modern" music milestones in the last 40 years which didn't get wall to wall BBC coverage. Why does Glastonbury?

Which ones are they then that have crowds well in excess of 100,000, sell out in less than an hour, last 5 days (there are stages open from the Wednesday), with 11 main stages and dozens of others?

Dont worry, its all over now. Just 2 weeks of semingly endless plink, plonk to sit through.
Thank goodness for catchup and DVD's
Find out who you are and do that on purpose (thanks to Owain Wyn Jones quoting Dolly Parton)

I was a punk in the late 70s and can't remember the BBC giving such coverage to that genre apart from the occasional session on OGWT once a week.
Just browse the other channels, hopefully you'll find something good. Do you feel lucky, punk?

    Chic were awesome on BBC3.

Aaaargh! That's even more annoying. I actually like Chic but I never watch BBC3. Is it listed in Radio Times (and other available listing magazines)?

Apart from Barry Gibb this year was poor, Ed Sheeran was very poor not even playing, or in parts singing live but with backing tracks. What's up with that ?
I'm not a fan of Adele but at least she plays live.

To be fair, selling out in "less than an hour" doesn't really mean anything nowadays as it's all down to automated buying for resale.
Ariana Grande. Sold out in less than 6 minutes,
Metallica, sold out in 10 minutes
Adele, extra dates added but sold out within seconds.
    etc
    etc

And tickets for all of the above were being offered for sale again within minutes at vastly inflated prices.

Maybe, but as the people/ companies who buy them are looking to profit they'll only target those concerts where the expected demand for tickets is there.

So it is still a good indicator of an event where there is a wider audience for the event than are able to get tickets, and hence might justify television coverage.

    This is disgraceful.

Perhaps Jeremy Corbyn should have had a word.

"The litter pickers deal with rubbish ranging from food waste to entire discarded tents and camping gear dumped by people leaving.

Organisers urged festival goers to sign up to a green pledge to respect the land and "leave no trace" as they departed.

But it's a message that is lost on many".

At some other festivals (e.g. T in the Park) discarded tents are expected, and are collected for processing and shipping out to refugee sites to help with temporary accommodation.

We've had plenty already, what with Queens, Eastbourne this week and Wimbledon the next. I'm off to fill my planner with Glasto catchup downloads ;)

Also thought Nile Rodgers and Chic were the highlight of the entire thing.
