This morning and afternoon were great on the red button. Athletics (including proper coverage of usually ignored events like the women's shot put) followed by highlights of the America's Cup. That's more like it!

(PS - that's not sarcasm, by the way).

(EDIT: before anybody mentions it I think it ought to be "Americas' Cup").

I think you could therefore argue that it is probably the most significant/important modern music event that takes place in this country and therefore justfies coverage by the BBC. I'm guessing they may also make money by selling coverage abroad - I imagine that many in other countries would also find it of interest.

There have been many more significant and important "modern" music milestones in the last 40 years which didn't get wall to wall BBC coverage. Why does Glastonbury?

I've no doubt BBC can sell it to European networks (have you listened to French/German/Dutch "pop"music?) but why is the domestic market subjected to virtual saturation coverage?

I'd rather watch wall to wall Glastonbury the Wimblesh!te
    WWSD
    (what would Scooby Doo)

It's now leaked onto Sky News!

They're now discussing Jeremy Corbyn's "gig" on the main stage! Aaargh! (And I quite like him, but not on Saturday night when I want to be reading subtitles!)

    Early night I suppose...

I suppose that's your real issue rather than the blanket coverage. It's a big event and a lot of people would like to go but wouldn't have the chance. So perhaps there is a demand for it.
    ally.

No. My main issue is the amount of coverage. Why is it on three out of four BBC Freeview channels?

Are you saying that 75% of licence payers want to watch Glastonbury? I don't think so...

Maybe stick it on the red button and one other channel out of BBC1, BBC2 and BBC4.

And of course they could also stick it on a platform like BBC3 where I suspect most of the likely audience would be more than happy to watch.

Oh Gawd - don't tell me it was on BBC3 as well! That's four out of five available platforms!

I'm annoyed as I was looking forward to "Operation Crossbow" which was in my listings magazine (other listings magazines are available).

Chic were awesome on BBC3. Killers fantastic on BBC4 , Emilie Sandie was good on one of the other channels, now waiting for Ed on BBC2.

    Great coverage;)

    Care to name them ?

Shows like Live Aid, the Freddie Mercury Tribute concert, Nelson Mandela and the recent Manchester Love concert were only shown on one channel, but that's because they only had one stage, there was only one act on at a time and they were only on for one day.

There are multiple stages at Glastonbury with very varied artists - it's not as if the same act was being shown on multiple channels.
