Hope the visit goes well. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

"I wasn't looking for a house, but no suitable bungalows were around."
I'm quite strongly against moving into a bungalow, unless you have to because of mobility issues. Stairs are quite good exercise, and moving into a bungalow you lose that opportunity for exercise several times a day. Even with a flat, you can walk up the stairs of the block. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I held a meeting at my house which had to be in an upstairs room. Those who live in bungalows really struggled with the stairs. If you don't use it, you lose it.Spend less now, work less later.0

Fears and costs and maintenance.
I've never liked house roofs, during storms. All that's scarey and up there .... is so high above the ground.
In a bungalow even I can get a ladder and clear a gutter.... and if something roof-related needs fixing it doesn't seem such a big deal being so close to the ground0 -
If you have change to fix it then why not do so. Will you put the car in the garage or could that be your storage? Otoh new build usually maximise the building they can put on the site so you might not be allowed to add as much as a conservatory?I think....0

I think kitchens are places where a lot of space can be wasted. One corner of our kitchen is unavailable as it's the shower attached to the understairs toilet.
I totally hate wasted space. Open plan house arrangements must have been proposed by people with good eyesight and alarmingly poor hearing. There is no honour to be had in not knowing a thing that can be known - Danny Baker0 -
Different people different choices.. for me the fact that the house is detached and has it's own garage would outweigh the kitchen niggles.
If the builder is still onsite it may be worth asking them for a price to rectify the kitchen and build in some additional storage. You might get closer to requirement and still be under budget.

Do bear in mind that the purpose of the whole exercise is to move, so please do think hard about whether to sell if you cannot find somewhere you want to move to. You're not doing this to please your buyers and the agent.
Round here, bungalows are very rare, but that may not be the case where you are of course. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

They're 10-a-penny round here.... loads and loads and loads of them
RM, 3 miles of the town I'm looking at, 548 of them. In price range 125 of them. Only look at £250-300k to exclude most caravans/park homes/holiday camp homes 109 of them. Shortlisted... about 5-6.0 -
Rightmove shows around 1% of London props are bungalows, so definitely not 10 a penny.
Good luck with the viewings. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0
