Yes, that is right, I knew that.

The PM has to use the tradesmen's entrance if there's no-one in. ;);););)

It's the letterbox conundrum that is blitzing my brain cells! :rotfl:

Apparently Number Ten has 100 rooms. There's a mansion built onto the back! :rotfl:

When Blair and family moved into 10, they nicked a bedroom off the bloke next door at number 11, who didn't have kids.

I thought they swapped flats completely - so the Bliars lived at No.11 (but he worked at No.10) whilst the Clowns lived at No.10 (but he worked at No.11)

In both cases I use the word "worked" in its loosest possible sense :D

"After the IRA mortar attack in 1991, the original black oak door was replaced by a blast-proof steel one. Regularly removed for refurbishment and replaced with a replica, it is so heavy that it takes eight men to lift it. The brass letterbox still bears the legend "First Lord of the Treasury". The original door was put on display in the Churchill Museum at the Cabinet War Rooms."

So maybe the original one before 1991 didn't have a letterbox, and that's what I'm remembering?

Your quote looks very like a copy/paste from Wikipedia - if it was, the page also includes a photo from 1977, complete with a letterbox.

I have a strong recollection that the letterbox is just for show. It doesn't actually open, which is precisely what you'd expect for a blast-proof door. But, I can't prove that.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

It's like a tardis. It goes back a long way, has several floors and the staff restaurant in the basement.

I've been in No 11, many years ago. There are portraits of former chancellors going up the stairs and a big entertaining room on the first floor. I can't remember much else.

I'm tired of this wind now. :(

I think it's due to start dropping tonight, with less wind tomorrow and quite calm by Monday.

Earlier on this week, the recycling bins opposite kept blowing over, with the paper inside them falling out and blowing all over the place.

There was a time a few years ago when we had wind constantly for absolutely ages, and I started to realise how winds can send you mad. Constantly being blown about messes with your brain!

    Oh yes!
    Totally had enough!
Been grey, grey, grey and wet here for days. Windy as well of course.
We certainly paid for that few days of "Spring" we had a few weeks back!

I've always hated the wind. It's been tough today even stepping out of the front door to stand under the canopy for a cig. I've entertained ideas of going out for a chinese - and I checked the wind/weather and it looks like it'll be dropping away from about 55-60mph down to "just" 35mph or so by 10ish. Trouble is, I bet I CBA to go traipsing out for a chinese at that time of night!

Having storms named does make it easier to spot the small gaps between wind/rain.

If it's windy from Wed-Fri 6pm and called Storm A, then you know that one's over and done with when Storm B hits from Fri midnight to Tuesday lunchtime :)

I was listening to something on the radio yesterday and they were talking about this sort of online thing, and this quotation came up:

Proverbs 18:2.... "A fool takes no pleasure in understanding, but only in expressing their opinion".

I thought it was very pertinent.

This is just brilliant and it explains many things. I will remember it for next time. I am hoping there won't be a next time.

I have also learned that next time someone adds me to a Facebook group I am going to leave it immediately.
