Pyxis, I'm curious how much you are spending on ink for your ever-so-thirsty Epson?

This one has come down in price slightly and include 1500 page starter cartridges for £65.

The ink cartridges are refillable, too, provided you do that before they run dry. Bit of a faff, though.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Rain. Lots of it. And wind. Looks like a stormy night to come here.

It's a beautiful morning here! It rained last night, but bright sun this morning. The soil is so handy here that it's dry underfoot despite last night's rain. Such a change from London, with its heavy clay. Sadly, we have to pack up and drive back on Monday.

The thing is, the Epson is an MFC, because I also do a lot of photocopying (single and two-sided), plus scanning and the occasional fax, and the Epson is great for all that.

i'm a bit embarrassed to say what I pay for the inks, even though I get the four-ink pack. It certainly wasn't the £70+ pounds that .Sainsbury's was selling them at before.

I'm annoyed that my other old machine gave up the ghost, leaving me with loads of cheap inks that I now can't use, although the repair man said it was probably the inks wot done for it.

Pyxis I suppose you tried M & S? I bought 2 pairs of comfortable linen/cotton mix trousers there but admittedly it was a couple of years ago. You probably really needed to be looking a few months ago iyswim. :( I hope you find some.

Last autumn I had similar problems trying to find jumpers. BHS was always my go-to place for those! I bought 2 chunky ones from Sainsbury's and had to take one back - it was a gorgeous deep red but each time I washed it it got a bit bigger.....so I tried three in M & S. The one I liked best wouldn't go over my head! Another had very tight sleeves. I did buy the third, but it makes me a bit itchy around the neck because it has alpaca in it. Maybe i'll have better luck this year. I hope so, as my old ones are looking really scruffy now. i can't bear to wear a polo-neck, so that limits my choices when polos are in fashion!

Do you have a TKMax near you?
I was in there yesterday, and noticed they had quite a few jumpers, although I didn't look at them.

Yes, the drawback of the one I linked to is that it is a printer only, no scanner. Still, full colour prints at 4p a page from a cheapish printer is not to be sniffed at. And that drops dramatically if you refill the ink.

From the Sheringham Independent small ads:
"Frozen boxed day old chicks. 240 £5. Due to the loss of my 22 year old barn owl."

    Weirder than weird!

Not weird at all - that's what captive and display birds of prey are often fed.
If the owl's snuffed it, he might as well flog the left over food to other falconers.

Are they frozen dead or alive? Feathered or plucked?

240 of them for a fiver!!! Not much meat on the bone?

Do owls have very very strong beaks, or do the chicks have to be thawed before use?

When I was in Sainsbobs earlier this afternoon, I saw a woman walk past ..... had a brand new lawn edger ...

I've got non-contiguous paving slabs in my garden, to the gate... inevitably, grass has grown across the edges, so when I saw a lawn edger for about £3, I saw it and thought "I could do that .... round those slabs"

I put the edger where I thought the edge was and tried to get it to go into the ground and failed.

I've not tried since.... I expect there's some method/technique you need ..... not just put it where it looks right and tread on it so it goes in .... or maybe I just don't weigh enough.
