    Nice feeling that is!
If you want to own a house a mortgage is the only way for most people. Great when it's paid off! :

    It's a lovely feeling, isn't it?

Mind you, I got a bit of a shock when, having paid mine off, they still took money the following month. When I called to ask why, it transpired that the muppet at the counter had applied my entire payment to one of the two (*) accounts, rather than the relevant amounts to each so one was in credit and the other still in debit, hence a DD coming out the following month.

(*) I had two accounts because of the way they'd handled a remortgage that both increased the borrowing and changed the lender - one account was for the borrowed amount they'd taken over and the other for the increased borrowing.

    Yayyy! :j Congrats, viva!

Oh Chris, that does sound a muddle. Same sort of thing that happens when my DS pays his tax bill - they nearly always attribute it to the arrears he's paying off, then he gets a letter from a DCA for the amount + £100 because he "hasn't paid his tax bill" and has to spend ages on the phone sorting it out.

    Congratulations Viva, must feel great.

I've had a brilliant night, work's Christmas 'do', the first one I have been on since 2005. They generally don't have one but I have been subtly making suggestions since last Christmas and it became set thing by September this year. It was just us 5 girls (there are only 5 of us in our location, there is a bigger one with a lot more staff 3 miles down the road - we don't get invited to their Christmas do) at a local restaurant but we had a fab night.

I've now suggested we go out for a girly meal out more often, let's see if that is adopted too....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Congrats viva!

It's a great feeling. I see you've you posted on the "mortgage free" roll of honour. Your "mortgage free glee" badge will look good alongside your "PPI party pooper" one (when the MSE Badger gets round to it, that is. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Pyxis, thanks very much.

It was first night last night, and we light an extra candle every night for the next seven nights.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?
