Just as well, because with 10 minutes to go, there is a ring at door.

Robert is early! Good job you didn't go to the loo, then!

    Well done, Robert!

I had that once - I'd just refreshed the tracker to find that he was still 15 minutes away when the doorbell went.
The look on his face when I told him he was early was priceless :rotfl:

Mind you, I had another early delivery that was ridiculous. Asda had just issued their delivery bods with new kit and a new system. The guy rang the doorbell to tell me that he was here but that he couldn't actually make the delivery yet because the new system wouldn't allow him.
He'd have to wait ten minutes before he could start unloading, even though he was easily within the 2 hour timeslot anyway- crazy.

Some advice, please. Do people think this may help? :-

"Hi Amazon, I received an email that you attempted delivery of a parcel today but there was no response from the house. In fact, I was in at the time you apparently attempted delivery. So were 3 other people!

Could you please give additional instructions to your driver when he attempts redelivery:

    a) Make sure it's the right house. It has the number 17 outside, and it's between 15 and 19. There are other roads in the neighbourhood that also have a number 17 in them, so it's easy to get confused, I know.
    b) Read the note by the bells that says "Ring both bells".
    c) Ring both bells.

    Thanks"
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Apparently they don't do irony at Amazon, and I received the following.

'I have received your email today and I am sorry that there has been some confusion regarding your address.

Thank you for the details you provided, I have now added them to your account.'

What I always do now, if a delivery is due, I put a large note on the front door saying: "I AM in. Please be patient. If no response to the bell, please use the knocker."

That helps a lot. It also means that if they photograph the front door, the note is also visible in the photograph.

Of course, it helps that it's a glass door, and I can stick the note to the inside of the glass.

I have just come back from the US and waited until a third attempt and finally a successful visit. Their Amazon delivery service is worse than ours. We were staying in Disney World. They couldn't find it the first time, and the second time claimed it was closed.

By the way, GDB, why do you have two bells?

What happens when people only ring one bell?

My guess would be that one can't be heard from the garden.
For that reason, as well as the fixed bell I have a wireless one that I occasionally use when I'm at the far end of the garden but am expecting a delivery, with the bell box either near me or, even, in my pocket,

So glad your Dad's doing so well, Sue :T

We had a DPD delivery recently, which arrived when we were out. The card said simply "Back gate", but there was no parcel in the garden (i,e, having been thrown over the back gate.)

It turned out to be in the alley between our house and next door, leaning against the back gate. The alley had next door's bins in it, so at least the parcel was well hidden :)
