Oh, I love the idea of an anti-feral tank!

I was idly looking at local bungalows on Rightmove recently. The problem around here is that they were all built by the same builder, so they all look the same....I did see one this morning when we were out, that was different, but it had steps up to the front door...
I expect we shall stay here and do as our neighbours have done, have a stairlift installed when we can no longer manage the stairs.0 -

Can you not plan a quick downstairs wet room, then sleep in one of the downstairs rooms? Much more dignified and "independent" than those chairs.....0 -

Or even more exotic, install a lift!
According to the pictures, the footprint isn't too big, and they are quite sleek looking.
I don't know how the price compares with a stairlift, though.
More fun than a stairlift would be one of those ski-lift things that just pull you up!
:D Stick your feet on the special runners and hold onto the T-bar!
(Just as long as you don't mind being at a 45 degree angle all the way up! :rotfl:)
And better than a lift, why not one of those Peter Pan wires they have in theatres? Like abseiling in reverse, or bungy-jumping without the recoil bounce! Wheeeeeee! I want one!
Or do a St. Paul in reverse and be hoisted up/down in a basket!
I'm wasted here; I should be a product designer! :rotfl::rotfl:(I just lurve spiders!)

But then you lose half your house!
I did that once, when I had lodgers upstairs, but as I was working away all week it didn't matter too much, but I wouldn't have wanted to do it full time. Plus you'd have to go up from time to time to get things or check on things, or turn radiators up/down, so you'd still need to be able to go up.
A downstairs loo does cut down the need to go upstairs a lot, though, so deffo good to have one of those.(I just lurve spiders!)

It depends on the house/layout .... it might be possible to have a little extension, porch sized... off the back door. Aesthetics aren't on the radar if you're at a stage where you're looking at stair lifts. I watched my mum on one of those chairs a few times - they look quite tricky/lethal.. she had dementia so couldn't really be taught how to use it safely each time. They also make the stairs narrow.... and by God they move slowly.
The care home we picked for her was all on one level; I'd viewed one with stairs and lifts and corridors and fire doors... and realised she'd never be able to leave her room as it'd have meant calling for help and waiting.... all on one level meant she could just toddle off and out when she wanted... and back.0 -
I'm going to need a new keyboard shortly... this one's got no letters on it, there are strange indentations through use over the years.... and now, 25% of the time, the "a" key has given up the ghost. Getting tired of having to go back and correct things where there's an A missing.0

My "A" key has always been a bit funny on this keyboard. My triping's carp anyway, but it needs a sort of more positive press than the rest.
Saying that it's working perfectly at the moment.
KB's 8 years old as well. It's looking worn.0 -

I've also noticed that every house that's for sale as "newly refurbished throughout...." has invariably got light grey/pile carpet wall to wall. Every house has the same carpet.... all of them.
I liked grey carpets - in 1990.
It's been all beige carpet everywhere for several years now. Light grey isn't any more practical, of course, but it does seem to represent a change.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I remember when we had an extension built and went to order the carpet for new extended lounge.
Along came the salesman, who started out with, "Does Madam have any colour in mind?", to get the reply, "Yes, dirt colour"
The salesman's face was a picture :rotfl:
In the end Mum went for a mottled oatmeal which worked quite well at not showing up too much of either light or dark dirt

No, there is really nowhere to put one. I know some people convert the understairs cupboard, but i don't think ours is big enough
thanks for the idea though.
PN My son bought me a Logitech wireless keyboard-and-mouse set when I needed a new one; he said it was a very good make.0
