First viewing booked for tomorrow.... although I wouldn't expect a house to sell to the first to see it. I expect to have to get to 8-12 before it's what somebody wants.

Been actively searching for "so where are you going to go?" and I don't know.... nothing I like. There is one I've had on my list from the start, was trying to "get more/better" than that, but nothing's for sale that I like, so if all else fails and mine does sell... I've got one lined up as something to view.

23 properties on my "list of houses I clicked through to check out more" and they've been dismissed for a variety of reasons. So just one that's a maybe to view... but if that's sold before mine, then who knows where I'll go :)

EDIT: 2nd viewing booked on mine now, back to back with the 1st.

I've arranged a booking on one myself for next week ... and trying to get another couple, but I've already worked out one faces the wrong way - and it HAS to face the right way, fed up with losing all sun by 5-6ish.... it feels like 8pm when it's 4pm.

One question that came from nowhere was a very direct "Resuscitation. Have you ever had a discussion about resuscitation decisions?"

The question came from nowhere - and suddenly you realise that no, you've never had that discussion .... and now you're pretty much having to give your input/choice about what to do!!

One of those conversations nobody wants to have, or start, because we're all going to live forever aren't we... and it's awkward.... and nobody wants to start the discussion... because that's something the other person should start....

Most people never have the actual, proper, discussion. If there is a sudden event where they need to all work on a patient, with all the teams and machines beeping to "bring them back" ..... do you want them to?

    Hard one, eh.

I actually upset my mum by thinking of that question when they first mentioned the possibility of the operation. She didn't like to think of that outcome and was worried they would use that as an excuse to kill him off (even if things were not at that point).

I told her it would be something for us to hold rather than be on his records so that we would know his wishes if the worse was to happen.

I'm practical, organised and I take emotion out of things (it's why I am the executor of their wills), mum is more emotional and I don't want to think about the possibilities type of person. To me it makes sense to look and plan for all possibilities, even the negative ones.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That's true, because having to make a decision in a rush, in an emergency etc. is not nice.

As for James's partner, he sounds such a lovely and sensible young man that I'm sure he's chosen someone equally lovely :)

I got this far and thought "Hang on, I hadn't picked up on the son being gay ...." then I realised I had to keep reading to the end of the sentence.

Owned solar panels... where are we with those in current thinking?

Viewing is for a place that has 2 year old owned solar panels (producing ~£1600/year they say).

I'm fearful of the ongoing costs and the future maintenance problems that might be encountered (as I'd not have the nouse/budget to fix that)....

It's not a critical answer that's required, just a general opinion/mulling, as this place is top of budget and doesn't give me the extras I desired... location's right, but no garage and no conservatory. Annoyingly, the house did have a garage when it was built, in a block, but she flogged that off... having that garage would've raised it from a "not really/maybe" to a "go on then".

She is, she is also a uni graduate (she read History I believe), so she is equipped to hold her own in discussions...a quality we love in this family!

Lydia is the NP resident expert.

I think they are a good thing if they are owned - cheap/ free electric and an income from the electric people to you.

If they are leased they are less attractive - cheaper electric for you but no income and there may be issues on the property purchase.

I don't really know what the current (no pun intended) state of play is with solar panels. Suffice to say that I read somewhere that they will need at least one new inverter (the electronics that change the DC from the panels to AC for the "mains") in their 20 odd years life. Inverters cost money obviously.

Personally I'd see them as neither a plus or minus, but I wouldn't pay a premium for them.
Having sold off the garage would be a deal breaker for me.
