Could we perhaps have a sort of half term holiday on A levels, please?
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Nothing un-nice about anything you said IMO. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)

    Happy birthday Lydia!

I really don't think all this lengthy discussion (especially your previous post) has any place in the Nice People thread. You are entitled to your opinions and so is everyone else.
I took my A levels in 1975; my DH has been a teacher and works in admin in a school dealing with data. I probably know more facts about the subject than you but I don't wish to enter into an argument.
Can we just drop the subject now please? (sorry if I'm not being very nice)

Yes I am quite happy to do that but I do think it belongs in the nice people thread because nice people do not scam, mislead, or exploit others for their own gain. What they do is they try to improve the quality of other peoples' lives even if that means being unpopular.

I did say when I first posted in this thread that I am not a nice person. I am the person who in Birmingham some years ago stopped to talk to a Big Issue seller who was waving his leg at people to ask them what to do about a big abcess on it. Lots and lots of people walked past and ignored him. That man was someone's son. With the help of a friend of his we eventually came up with a solution. I don't believe that it is acceptable to see something that is reducing the quality of someone's life without at least making an attempt to do something about it.

Other peoples' children do not deserve to be exploited. Fat cats and all that.

    Fat cats anyone? https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/news/liverpool-news/eye-watering-salaries-university-chiefs-13592236

It is a very interesting discussion, Cakeguts, but it really does belong in Discussion Time, due to the amount of detail involved.

I do understand your concerns, and I think they are ones we all share, not least by people who are in the profession.

However, maybe it has run its course on here? One thing I have found out about this thread is that the minute a topic begins to upset someone, it should be dropped, because that's what the thread is about...... being a 'safe' place where posters won't be upset, not in a 'snowflake' sort of way, but just ........ because! :)

Ok, sometimes that might happen inadvertently, but when it does, that's when it's time for the subject to be dropped.

    And it's Lydia's birthday today! So cakes all round! :) :j :) :j :bdaycake:
