Just to say I deleted my post, felt I was showing off :o DD is working very very hard and we're very proud of her but she hasn't had to face the sort of obstacles Josh and Joe have.

Goodness no, be loud and proud! It's not easy for our younger ones and we have to celebrate every success regardless of background.

Aww, thank you. She has been so tired as her OH was doing his nurse training and money was very tight, so they've both been doing extra shifts as well as studying. Thankfully he's qualified now and they've been able to remortgage, so things are a little easier, but when she started the MSc she commented that she knew she wouldn't do as well in it as she might have done because she simply hasn't got enough time or energy, but the MSc is "expected" in her current role, so there you are.
Now she "just" has to do her dissertation

just keeping ans eye on the time as I have to go down to church soon to put out the donation envelopes for the Apostleship of the Sea, a charity which supports seafarers all over the world. We sometimes don't realise how much of our imports and exports go by ship, as we're used to the idea of air freight. There have been a lot of sailors in my family, so I volunteered to help.

The local free rag here in Sheringham has for years been publishing details of county court judgements - name address and amount - which I always thought was an odd piece of news. Only recently have they come clean and admitted that these are all cases won by the rag's publishers against advertisers who owe them money.

Even if they can't get water out of a stone, it must be great 'pour encourager les autres' to pay up.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

They used to put everything in the papers .. years ago.
Only recently I was mulling that it'd have been nice to have been able to check court records where evictions have been agreed...

One newspaper round here gives a list of offences/in court and what they got ... with name and road name. That's how I know of three drunk drivers that live in my dozen or so houses.... although, they've each left before now .... but I still check to see if anybody else is up to anything I'd "tut tut" at.

Hottio here. Had to do a food run. Made a list .... tossed it away as the shops don't have what you went in for .... so then I made it up as I went along.

Home, therefore, with lots of sweeties, sausage rolls, samosas, bhajis, pizza and chips... among with other "non essential, but really tasty" purchases.

They didn't have: my favourite fizzy pop, hash browns, scotch eggs, big bread rolls ... which were the things I went out for.

I'm going to the shopping mall place at about 3pm today! :D

It will either be blissfully empty,:), or it will be full of footie-uninterested mums and hordes of young children. :(

If the latter, I shall about turn and head home again.
If the former, I shall have a very pleasant afternoon mooching around the empty shops, with the occasional dive into a supermarket to go and stand by the chiller cabinets! :)

Luckily, the parking is free, so I won't have invested 3 hours of parking only to head straight home again!
(Mind you, the number of cars in the car park might be a clue!)

I did a tip run.... I wasn't alone, but it was in/out ... probably about 6-8 others in there... normally there'd be 40-50 and a big queue forming and struggling to get parked near the bit you want.

Some total 4rse though .... has parked in such a way that I nearly couldn't get the car out.

Having got it out, I wasn't sure I could get it back in... and I had to put the car in a different way and now couldn't get it out again. It's all about turning circles.... not just the size of a car - and my car's quite large-ish.

I've been browsing through ancestry ... but it's far too hot and sticky and sweaty to "enjoy" the free access.

Does anyone know how graduates find jobs these days? We would like to recruit a couple but have no idea where/how to advertise, the methods we used successfully in the past that would bring in 100 applications and a dozen interviewable candidates now seem to return 2 or 3 unsuitable cvs.

Graduates respond to adverts on online portals. There are also online places where graduates post their CVs and employers search. Or you engage the services of online recruiters like Indeed.

You could also tweet with appropriate hashtags or use appropriate facebook groups.

What could possibly go wrong ... fully grown, muscley/stocky tall man ... wearing only shorts... bouncing in a kids' trampoline and singing the 3 lions song ....

I'd love to watch, but I can't guarantee it'll come to grief, else I'd definitely take the time out.

New PC unexpected thing to resolve.

There's been this "activate windows" pale wording on the screen. No idea what that is... so I've just started to investigate.... and I have to "do something", so I'm at the stage where I'm confused, lost ... and following instructions from the help system.

    [to be continued]

EDIT: Ah, I clicked "troubleshoot" and it did stuff then said it had activated. Makes you wonder why it didn't do that itself first, rather than bothering me!
