The photo I really regret not taking was when builders were refurbishing a shop. They'd knocked everything out, including the entire shop front. There was just an empty and rather scruffy shell. What was left was the shop sign saying: "Elegant Interiors".No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

I once had a job interview to attend - so a suit was required. Issue is, a suit has to be "petite".... so off I trekked to the capital town of the county where I was living. My thoughts were "I'll look around - and if all else fails M&S will have something".
I looked around, being about April/May time or so, I found just TWO suits in petite in shops - one lime green and one light blue as it was "summer" ... *sighs*
OK ... off to M&S then ... in I go ... couldn't find any petites, so I asked and she replied "Just tell us which suit and we'll send off for it for you".
NO! It doesn't work like that.... I want a suit TODAY ... to take with me, to wear tomorrow .... and, even if I pick a suit, I wouldn't know until I tried it on if it fitted me, or even suited me.
I gave up and went with "random separates I already had that sort of fitted me and kind of looked suit-ish" for the interview. Can't remember if I got it, I guess not else I'd have remembered.0 -
Last year I passed a poulterer's and wondered if I should take a photo before it disappears into the mists of history.
Not much call for poulter these days!
I am a photographer, I make part of my living from it.
I wish I'd started earlier though, and had some photos of towns in the 60s and 70s.
What annoys me is not so much what the shops are, but the buildings that they knock down to stick up some architects vision of how it should be.
The town I grew up in had a fair number of 17th century buildings. Houses and shops, that were just bulldozed to make room for a road.
More went under the wrecking ball for "redevelopment" in the 70s, which has in turn been "redeveloped"
I don't want things to never change, but they tear the character out of these places, and replace it with carp modern buildings, and faux antique street furniture.
A lot of it is to make room for large chains stores and supermarkets, who should be stuck on out of town sites anyway. An ugly tin shed is still that, whatever facade you nail on it.

I can remember being in awe of our neighbour's kettle in the 1960s as it turned itself off. Magic! It must've been the very late 1970s or early 1980s before my parents bought one that did that0 -
Generally my parents were early adopters, but we did have one car when we lived in Australia that had running boards. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
