I'd never tell a lie. Since my huge lottery win and all the plastic surgery I went through ... I discovered there's no point trying to hide stuff as people realise and then they have an issue with your lies.

It's always best to be honest. I'm sure once I hit 30-35 I'll be glad I did that.

DW and I went for a date night at the Pizzeria in Hampstead.
    We *shared* :-
The cheapest pizza (they cut it in half and put each half on a separate plate).
    One rocket salad.
    One glass of house red.
    A jug of tap water.
One dessert (the tiramisu is yummy).

At the end of the meal, the waitress said how much they'd enjoyed having us and we should come again. No obvious irony there, but ....
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

Did you give her a tip? :D

All I can say is...... YOU SHARED A DESSERT?
My desserts, especially yummy ones, are ALL MINE! :rotfl:

In the aforementioned John Lewis, I treated myself to a coffee and a slice of blackcurrant Eton mess cheesecake.
Anyone trying to share that with me would have got a fork pronged into their hand.

The big night out came to £30 including the service charge and the tip.

Do you have a John Lewis card and get the vouchers for free tea and cake? We have one each, but DW keeps snaffling my vouchers.

I've had those vouchers a couple of times in the past, but in the last year I've hardly spent anything in there, so haven't had any vouchers for a while now.

I spend very little on my JL card but I get the vouchers. Latest lot includes one for free tea and cake June/July and one for Aug/Sept.

Maybe it's the, frequency of use of the card then? Maybe you have to use it at least once a year or something?

    Otherwise, waaaaaaaaaaaah!

I've never been a JL shopper. Where I lived before I think the closest was 90+ miles away. Now I'm about 10 miles from one (just looked), but if you dropped me in that town I'd struggle to find it and would have to ask people :)

    It's all "posh stuff" :)

There's no "£1 rail" in there.....

It's wise to be careful about these things.

Well, it depends how unusual you are. When I first joined MSE, I was always very careful never to post anything that could identify me. Then LNE died, and after not mentioning it for a while, I felt I really couldn't have the extent of "belonging" in this little cybercommunity that I wanted to have if I had to keep from mentioning that enormous life-defining event.

I knew that would mean that anyone who knows me IRL would recognise me instantly. How many physics teachers do you know whose nearly-ex-husbands died in road accidents after having got far enough through the divorce process to get a decree nisi but not a decree absolute???

PN once told me I was not the only one, and posted to a link to a post describing the same story on another website. I had to ask her to take it down immediately, because it was me! On a site where non-members, like PN, can only see my user number, but members can see my real name and my photo!
    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:

PN, too, is not an "average" sort of person. I think people who know her IRL would be able to identify her from the things that she posts but then deletes, so I feel her concerns are valid.

Yes, this is what I do now, since my anonymity is far from secure.

OTOH, I try never to post anything on here that would make it easy for someone who has only come across me on here to track me down IRL. That's much less restrictive that avoiding posting things that would be recognised by someone who already knows me IRL.

I'll guess that somebody who really wanted to could eventually tie up our AEs on different sites.
All of us who have been on the internet for any length of time have left a trail.

TBH, I don't pay that much attention to what I put here, but I tend to steer clear of specific things.
"Lists of vehicles I have owned" for an example.
