With fewer of us walking .... most people don't have hi-viz and torches etc.
I know if somebody called me tonight after dark and said "fancy walking to the pub?" I've not got them..... it's probably especially the case with more people going away on short breaks ... and ending up walking along roads they don't know, looking for a pub/anything .... tourists, lost, plodding... in the dark as they're used to lit up London0 -

We have around 10 torches. Just seem to acquire them. No hi viz, but possibly something with a reflective stripe on, if I search. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I thought torches would disappear and people use their light on their mobiles.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Ditto, we've got a lot of torches, but it's dark here at night. (Yes I know it's dark everywhere!)
Very few street lights outside towns and villages.
I've always got a small torch with me. A Nitecore "Tube". Keyring sized. Rechargable. Excellent little torch.
Got Hi viz waistcoats as well in case. They're cheap.0 -
Just went to Aldi. They have pics. The little ones in sets of three are a bit piddly, but this one was nice for £3.99:

I quite like this one too, but they didn't have it so didn't see it in the flesh:

They aren't due to go on sale until tomorrow, so not sure why they were out. Those are the sort of thing I scurry past.... not my cup of tea at all. If I were round somebody's house tomorrow and they said "Here, do you want these.... bought them for somebody but they've already got some and I CBA to take them back ... they're free" I'd say "no thanks"
They don't stand a chance from the start with me though .... being flowers. Not keen on flowers .... and those pictures aren't "anything to write home about"....
I'm not "big on art" ... and I prefer a more naive style of painting, with bold colour blocks.... and preferably (price depending) not "twee".0 -
I was quite excited, I'd not turned the telly on for 2-3 days, but just tried it and the red/standby light was lit and I pressed the remote and on it came! So I got the freeview remote and flicked through some channels and found a programme about canals "that'll do" I thought.... put the remote down, I was just watching the opening scenes and the screen went off....
pfft. I think I'm going to be needing to buy a new telly soonish!0 -
I don't know if they still have them, but there were cheap refurbished LED tellies on the closing down sale of the Tesco Direct site the other day, some under £100.
ETA or failing that, the Argos outlet:

ETA part II
They have got the refurbished Samsung Galaxy Tab A again on the Argos eBay store. We've had two of these so far and they've been brilliant. One said refurbished and was mint in box, the other had the tiniest ding. Brilliant vfm. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I saw one on Freegle a few days ago, but by the time I saw it, it had been on for a couple of days and would have been snapped up. It was a very large one, though. When I got one for the living room, I wanted one a bit bigger than the one in my bedroom, but when I got it home it was two sizes larger and a bit too big, really.
It beats me how people can have those really mahoosive ones in ordinary houses. Fine in a loft apartment, but a bit dominating in a room that's 12' X 12'.(I just lurve spiders!)

The TV battle is a constant one with DH. He would have one taking up the whole wall given half a chance. However I'm so long sighted that would make me feel sick, so sadly we can't have one:DPlease stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing?
