Love beetroot, parsnips are good if roasted, spinach is eugh. I don't mind a good carrot cake but much prefer just munching on raw carrots.

I took everyone's advice and contacted the OT, amazing how one phone call leads to lots being received and an immediate lighter feeling of the mood. I have now been referred/recommended for a wet room, a wet/dry toilet, a stair lift, the chronic fatigue clinic and the wheelchair service for a powered chair...or if the adaptations on the house are too much, possibly being put on the list for a bungalow or flat.

    Wow! That's good!

Illustrates how much you've been struggling, though. I know you won't see it as struggling, as you just get on and cope, iyswim, but if those things will make your life easier, hurray!

By the way, what is a wet/dry toilet?

Yay! So glad the OT you saw was as helpful as we hoped. :D:j

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I've just made (well, let me be entirely frank, the bread-maker has just made) some really tasty rye bread. Half rye and half wholemeal, so it's rather dense.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

I'd not want a stair lift .... they're such a nuisance if you get half way down and remember something you left at the top and you have to go back again... and they're slow... and can be a bit "nerve rattling" strapping yourself in at the top and having it spin round to take you down. I'd spend all the time on it worrying about "what if the electricity cut out now..... could I make it ... and should I or will it start again..."

I'd prefer to get an offer of a bungalow... all on one floor, you know where you are then and feel you can get to anything.

Are beetroot, spinach, parsnips and carrot cake going to be the new mushrooms on the thread? Here are my verdicts:

Don't like carrot cake, and not particularly fond of beetroot, although both DS and DD love it. DS has a "favourite sandwich" that involved beetroot among other things.
Willing to eat spinach as part of something else - the canteen at a previous workplace used to do a puff pastry thing with spinach inside as a veggie option at lunch, for example, and I liked that - but not just sitting in a pile on the side of the plate as one of the vegetables with a meal.
Loooove parsnips. Possibly my favourite vegetable. Don't cook them all that often, though, because DS and DD are not keen.

I will say that apart from carrot cake, which I will demolish large amounts of in seconds, the other things are those sort of "nice to have a bit of" things, that are nice to have something different.
We do use beetroot with a salad though, and we eat a fair bit of salad.

They run on a battery. If the power suddenly goes off it'll still get you to where you're going.
    In theory at least!

A wet/dry toilet is one where after you have done your business you press a button and it washes you 'down there and then dries you.

It's been suggested as my shoulders dislocate when wiping.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

That's ok, Pastures! After all, every single person and animal on the planet has that bodily function! There's no escaping it! :)

I did wonder afterwards if it was that!

In India, I believe those types of loos are pretty standard. They consider that using tissue is quite horrible!

I have a bidet which serves the same idea, although it doesn't dry you as well!

The Japanese have built some quite remarkable loos that do all sorts of things!

When I was in the casino at Monte Carlo (:D:D:D:D:D cue posh alert! :D:D:D) the loos there were those self-cleaning ones, and I watched it and burst out laughing as it looked so funny! The seat sort of revolves and as it revolves round into the back part, it gets cleaned and disinfected!)

Personally, I would rather use a separate appliance for washing and drying, because I don't like the sound of everything happening in the same soiled area, iyswim, although I've never seen one in action, so am willing to be educated! :D
I'm also concerned about the direction any water jet might take, for women in particular, and just how efficient a clean it would give you, iyswim.

But then, as I said, I've not seen how it would work.

In Bangkok I had to as for toilet tissue as the toilets where we were had a weird washing pipe attachment. Seemed a brilliant idea and much more hygienic. However I know what a klutz I am and didn't want to have to explain how I'd flooded the place trying to wash downstairs.
