No, when I viewed, the shelves were present. I was surprised they were gone when I got the keys. Ditto the coat hooks!

I've been up since 5.30am.... sitting here waiting for the shops to open.

"A bad workman always blames his tools" - yeah, but those with bad tools are justified :)

I'm going out to buy a handful of assorted brushes, "proper brushes", from the locally respected hardware retailer of this sort of random stuff at good prices. Lucky to live near that really ... not sure why I thought £land ones would be any good, except, until you've experienced something cheap/!!!!!! you don't appreciate that paying a little more (not much more) gets you "the proper things you should've got from the start".

I'll be looking to spend ~£10-12 on an assortment of brushes of differing widths and maybe a "mini roller set"... I'll walk too, so that counts as "daily exercise" - and I'll get sausage rolls and chocolate covered peanuts on the way back, which counts as "for good mental health" - need all the treats I can shovel down while doing this work :)

Yesterday was according to the unions and reported by the bbc 'meltdown Monday. Today none of the affected lines even got a mention on the local news travel section. Tells me something.
    I think....

Couldn't be happier, my trains are at least 10 mins quicker, my normal train is still there and there is now a new train 6 minutes later for the days I miss it, previously it was a 16 minute wait to a crowded train. The new train is particularly quick and today had seats(unheard of) because it doesn't stop in Harpenden (stick that in your 2 million pound houses and smoke it).

Trains home are also much quicker and more frequent. All were running today and within 5 minutes of time.

    win all round

Glad it works out for you michaels. It is good that there are some Herts winners.

We use both Harpenden and St Albans stations. We take trains from the former when we are going into the city or to Brighton for the day as you can street park, and St Albans when we get trains to the airport as public transport links and taxi choice are better. We also use the Met and Jub lines, and the main line into Euston to go to West End.

I was following the situation in Harpenden on Twitter yesterday and it looked like total chaos. Hope it's ok further down the line in silver land.

    In all seriousness, stop decorating.

Think about what you are selling. It isn't just a house, but a house with PP to extend. Anyone buying a house of that type will either be able to do the works themselves, or will be getting builders in and will look to get the other works done.

All that matters is that it is clean, tidy and doesn't smell.

I agree with viva. "Decor a bit tired" is no worse than "decor done by someone who doesn't know what they're doing". In fact, it's probably better. I wouldn't have a problem buying a house whose owner hadn't decorated for a few years, but I would definitely be scared off by a house that looked as though its owner had been bodging things.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

I agree. Whilst keeping the garden tidy is pretty important, nothing else is improving the value of the house. It's a relative new build. It won't have any major problems to hide.

Whether it's lurid green here and there or bog standard white everywhere, most people are going to want to change the decor. It's what people do in new builds unless you're already presenting them with something that is clearly well done and looks expensive, current and desirable.

The good news is that we don't use the train very often, occasional weekend or evening trips into London. OH has occasional meetings in London, but tends to avoid peak travel.

The bad news for anyone living near my station and actually needing the trains to commute is that there are far fewer trains in rush hour than before. Locals are up in arms, instead of standing room only, they now can't get on the train.

Just 5 trains between 7am and 8am, when there used to be 8.
8 trains between 8am and 9am, which is fine but later than most people need. and extra trains off peak.

Fewer trains between 7 and 8 am seems very odd indeed, given that most commuters need to get the tube to different parts of London.

Completely agree with this. I know someone who bought a house with pp circa 2002 who didn’t extend in the end but did do the property I u themselves. She is still living in it despite originally buying as an investment.

Corporate logic rarely makes any sense, as this goes to show.
