Amazing result. Not least because I think there is a big jump between gcse and anything further.

At the moment the maths module is amongst his strongest peformances. He is studying hard though and not just coasting along as a lot of the stuff in it he has never seen or experienced before.

Apparently calculus is weirdly weird but enjoyable according to him and algebra is easy!

    Strange boy.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I've just been doing a Codeword puzzle, and came across a word I hadn't seen before so had to look it up: dybbuk.

Silver, you may know it, as it's a Jewish word, relating a malevolent dislocated soul.

(Erm...... not because you have a lot to do with dislocated malevolent souls, but because of its Jewish origins! :D)

    Wiki says:

"In Jewish mythology, a dybbuk (Yiddish: dabaq from the Hebrew verb meaning "adhere" or "cling") is a malicious possessing spirit believed to be the dislocated soul of a dead person. It supposedly leaves the host body once it has accomplished its goal, sometimes after being helped.[1][2]"

    https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dybbuk

    * the first a is supposed to have a little bar over the top and the b is supposed to have a little underscore, but the Unicode ban meant that it, and the Hebrew letters, were turned into berserk numbers and exclamations, so have had to edit as best I can!

Definitely should keep away from dybbuks. Souls are meant to go to Heaven, so one hanging around having been separated from the person but not gone to heaven is bad news.

Well, I keep a string of special stones at my doors, to keep bad witches out, and that works, ('cos never seen any bad witches by here), so maybe it works for dybbuks too?

Or, could put up a sign saying No Hawkers, Circulars, Politicians or Dybbuks.

Seriously, though, is there a differentiation between souls who are just lost and need guidance to get into Heaven and souls who have become malevolent, or are all such souls ipso facto malevolent?

Some explanations here. I don't really know much about it, other than they are bad news.

Souls are generally thought to take up to a year to get to heaven. Close relatives/ friends of the deceased often take on extra praying/ good deeds/ charity work in that time to help the soul reach Heaven. I think the view is that even lost souls won't take more than a year.

Serious religious scholars sometimes study this sort of mysticism that is thought to be way too advanced for ordinary folk.

    GDB may know more??

That link was interesting......... the dybbuk box etc.

Reminds me of The Turn of the Screw and how the children were gradually taken over by what would have been the dybbuks of Quint and the governess.

That's very interesting about souls taking a year to get to Heaven........... I shall ponder on that.

So the lack of spring whilst pretty miserable for the kids, has had the advantage that apart from a few days at the end of Jan my hay fever hasn't been too bad...unfortunately that has resulted on spring happening all at once for all the trees over the last few days and I am suffering and how :(
    I think....

Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.
    :)
