Avishag is a girl's name in the bible, but it's not very common over here!No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Happy Passover to our Jewish NPs, and Happy Easter to those of us celebrating that :j
I can't type much atm - the (3-day-old ) bulb in my reading light has died and replacements aren't available in any local shops. I think DH bought the light and bulbs from somewhere like Cooper's of Stortford.
Anyway, I can't see the keyboard very well!0 -
Dad bought a foot stool from them...it broke on the third use.
To be fair to them though, they did refund without quibble and very quickly and didn't even want the item back, so we asked a friend if they could repair it which he did for a tenner using stonkier hinges. Dad now has a repaired but very much stronger foot stool at a bargain price. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

They do seem to be a mixture of decent stuff and tatt, to be honest.
I've been very happy with the counter top halogen oven I got from them, and various other things - some of which I would judge as "adequate" rather than good, however they were on the cheap side so one gets what one pays for I guess.0 -
re Viva's names. OH had a boss with the H first name. I thought it was a great name and wanted to use it. It got vetoed on the grounds that we weren't naming a child after his boss (too @rse licking) or a hotel chain. Still think it is a great name.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. It is amazing to carry on a tradition of a Passover supper that would have been familiar to people 2000 years ago.
Whilst celebrating the ten plagues on the poor Egyptians, we spill a drop of wine at the mention of each one to signify our sadness at their suffering. That's really kind! :A
I didn't know that. Am quite moved, actually.
( Where do you spill it? I'm thinking of the tablecloth )
Normally the saucer on which the wine glass stands or a serviette. But I can now report back that the coasters were made from a blotting paper type cardboard, so soaked up the wine.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I expect you can get them online if you get the 'serial number' off the bulb.
If it only lasted 3 days, it might be worthwhile ringing their customer services for a replacement free of charge.
Plus you could turn the brightness up on your computer screen? Not letting you get away with it, you know!(I just lurve spiders!)

it turned out not to be the bulb, or the fuse. OH managed to remove the base and a couple of wires are burnt out. We'll ask DS to have a look at it later (when he gets up after a night clubbing) as he's an electrician and will know if it's fixable, and if so, he'll be able to fix it.
I must say though that I've been using it for many hours a day, for probably more than two years. I think it was actually from Express Selection or Easylife - the same company using more than one name iyswim. OH is a terror for catalogues and quite often orders stuff which we don't need and which often turns out to be tat as Chris says, but I do need a good lamp. i'm waiting for a cataract op.
There's a very expensive brand called Serious Readers, which are horrendously pricey but they are probably made by exactly the same method....
My screen is already set at maximum brightness!0
