Ancestry free UK records weekend in case anyone unaware but interested.

I spotted it late yesterday, but there's nothing "new" to look up. I think I've got everything they've got to offer me .... and unless I go through everything all over again just to double check .... I won't know.

In the main they've very little "brand new" and "of interest/use". Yes, they add bits and bobs to their collections over time, but, in the main, most newly added stuff is the wrong counties, irrelevant, of no use whatsoever :)

What'd be handy would be complete sets of assizes records and b4st4rdy records in the counties I'm interested in. Just "something new and useful" and not "Commonwealth records" .... whatever they are! I bet they're of no use to most people at all....

Yep, the main thing I've used it for is to go back over the records I've already got and looked at the originals where possible to check them against the transcripts as there's more info than on say Family Search.

My main conclusion is that I've got a bunch of weird names in my tree. Very few run of the mill surnames and some even stranger first names. Not only do I have the Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego trio on my maternal side, I've got Hilton and an Anguish (men) and Wharton (a woman) on my dad's. They are sufficiently remote on my tree to mention on here, but it carried on. My grandfather had a really obscure biblical name that's too close to mention on here but in my whole life I've only met one other and that was in America.

It is amazing to carry on a tradition of a Passover supper that would have been familiar to people 2000 years ago.

Whilst celebrating the ten plagues on the poor Egyptians, we spill a drop of wine at the mention of each one to signify our sadness at their suffering.

    That's really kind! :A
I didn't know that. Am quite moved, actually.

( Where do you spill it? I'm thinking of the tablecloth )

    DQWD:

Not only did they use the A name, they did so repeatedly (I'm not related to all of them, but won't say how many for confidentiality).

Has anyone seen seen that advert for posh slippers with detachable soles and thought "they look nice, I'll saunter on over to their website for a look"? Well I did, setting myself a top limit of £20, which felt like a good price.

They are £78!!! I only paid £80 for my best work shoes and they are Ferragamo (courtesy of TK Maxx). I would expect them to be woven from a mix of gold thread and unicorn hair for that price.

We have a run of Ephraim for first borns on my paternal side...but not the paternal side I expected (my dad's mum's side would have been more likely but this is his dad's side). For some reason it changed to James with my granddad and since then all first born boys have been James.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I looked at those a while back, and thought what a good idea, and that they would suit my needs, but then I read the reviews and it seems that the soles can suddenly detach, which wouldn't be very useful, or safe! So I didn't give them any more thought.
