Invite is in the post.....check pm's.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
There’s a suggestion that US teachers should carry guns, so as to protect the children against gunmen. But teachers sometimes get rather stressed. Have any of the NP with teaching experience ever felt like shoot particularly difficult pupils? No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Is anyone else having difficulty editing posts? Either the edit button disappears or it refuses to save if I manage to edit. On both phone and macbook.
I edit virtually every post, so it’s an issue!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

Just seen this on another thread -
"The administrator has specified that you can only edit messages for 0.5 minutes after you have posted. This limit has expired, so you must contact the administrator to make alterations on your message."
and then I got:
This forum requires that you wait 120 seconds between posts. Please try again in 52 seconds.
Oh dear, I don't have time to factor in these delays etc.Spend less now, work less later.0 -

Not a teacher, but...
Have been in the US recently and went to see the new Star Wars film there. Before the film there was an information film about finding my nearest exit and what to do in an emergency - ie if a shooter gets into a screening as they did a couple of years back. It was very sobering and made me glad to live in the UK.
There are so many guns in the US that the genie can't be put back in the bottle. Hence why teachers being armed is discussed. There was another school shooting about a week ago, they are not uncommon. So what do they do?
Arming teachers is not a palatable idea, but neither is watching your students die because you have no way to defend them. My understanding is that many American schools now have security guards and metal detectors, so how are guns getting through? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I don't exactly work at the "rough" end of the educational spectrum, though.Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Scary how unreliable memory is...
DS2 has always been convinced that he remembers DS1 painting his room as a little kid. We'v always said that it isn't possible as the painting was done before DS2 was born. But he could describe what DS1 wore and how he held a roller brush etc. We said he must be recounting something that he was told rather than witnessed.
Yesterday we were searching old photo albums for photos of his primary school friend that has just died and we found photos of a fancy dress party where DS1 was in the painter outfit with bucket and roller in hand , so that mystery is explained.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Anti spam measures.
Two minutes between posts, okay, but only 30 seconds to edit and then prevent a repost for 120 seconds isn't exactly thought through. It means genuine people are prevented from adding anything - either through an edited post or an addition is quick succession.
I often can't see one of my posts in its entirety, so I rely on editing to add things that might be left out, as well as ridiculous typos. Umpteen times today!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
