I'll do more in time... but I need to do something now. As for numbers, people, when faced with a new tight-fitting, awkward area that's all cars and fences (and kids, toys, bikes, whatnot) .... etc ... need more than just the number on the fence.... needs to be flashing lights and 4' high neon arrows pointing down to the gate
Just found this (cheap) stuff - brown ...slap it on.
Shop shuts in 2 hours so I can even go and get it right now!
http://www.homebargains.co.uk/products/8959-ronseal-one-coat-timbercare-dark-oak-9-litre.aspx
So that's a decision made.
The nice colours are pricey ... so I'll use one of those in one particular spot I've got in mind next year.
Decision made.... cheap/brown/slap it on.
Job's a good 'un.
It's even got those magic/desirable words "one coat" ... although we know that's usually laughable, it's probably closer to one coat than one that doesn't mention it.0 -
Nope. The "spare" can be as bald as a coot, with wires sticking out all around the rim and it's perfectly legal - right up to the point that you use it as a road wheel. Until that point it's just counted as "luggage".
Do you know, I either have a false memory, or I'm harking back to a time when possibly it was a requirement.
It might have been with my previous car, (which had a full-size spare), which was over 11years ago, and I drove it for 14 years before that, but I'm sure that each time the AA changed my wheel, they told me to make sure I replaced the punctured tyre on what was now the spare, so as to be legal.
I also have a strong memory, real or otherwise, of the spare tyre having to pass the MOT.
Weird.
It might well be that when spacesaver tyres were brought in, the regulations were changed.
I dunno.
Anyway, it obviously isn't a requirement now, other than you still have to buy a new one so as to change the temporary spacesaver one that's on the car axle in an emergency.
Memories are weirderoonie.(I just lurve spiders!)

It didn't quite work to plan, I was just up the road from my house when I saw a sign saying that fence paint £3.99, so I pulled in to check - it was only 5 litres though ..... they had 3 colours. I umm'ed and aah'ed about whether to get back in the car and drive a round trip of 4 miles to get a bigger tub a bit cheaper/litre.... or seize the day and just grab what was in front of me - so I bought the one in front of me. I chose Antique Oak, bit random as you've no idea what it looks like until it's up.
I managed to get into the tub .... only broke one nail. And I've gone reeeaaallllly slowly as I really want to stretch this job out and make a good job of it. Slowest painter in the world I managed to do (thoroughly of course at that speed) 8 panels, the end post panel and the gate baton. Decanted some into a 200ml coffee jar for easier painting.
Made a bit of a mess, as expected, pouring from a full 5 litre tub into a 200ml coffee jar, but not too much ... and I didn't care to be honest. It's not in my way where the spill is and it'll be dry by morning.
It looks all right. It certainly looks like I've done it ... there's nothing worse than painting something that looks no different.
Trouble now is I think I've earnt a takeaway, having got this far - but they're not that great round here, so you then wonder "what sort, where from" and realise it'll be a 10 mile round trip to try out another random one that might be as rubbish as the local one....0 -

Or, worse, find that these "people" are in front of you in the queue :rotfl:

Can't decide for starters.... and can't get it delivered as I never get even close to the minimum order.
Last takeaway cost me £7.30 and did for 3 days' dinners.
The trouble is .... there's no way of telling which are actually good ... or not. If I knew one was good I'd go .... last one I tried was supposed to be good - tried it and the chicken balls were great/huge, but they were rubbish at chow mein; second time I went there the chicken was "only JUST cooked" and the egg fried rice was rubbish.
Can't keep doing that, it's soul destroying when you've built up expectations and excitement.0 -

If you want a Chinese, why not get a ready meal and rice etc from a supermarket?
I know you don't have a microwave, but they don't take long in the oven.
Because .... I've never had a good chinese from a supermarket either0 -

Oh, sorry!
Hmm. I know it is just a matter of retrial and error.
I haven't found a Chinese that I like locally. There used to be one that did a cracking spicy beef thing, but that was years ago, and probably changed hands, because the last time I tried it, it was horrid.
Even Indians are very, very variable.
Do you like Thai?(I just lurve spiders!)
