Well, I got back yesterday and have now recovered from the two long drives, 320 miles each way, but it was a very pleasant day in between.
Very impressed with the car fuel consumption, despite it being effectively a jacked-up breeze block with only a 5-speed gearbox it surpassed my hopes of 45mpg by returning 48 on the trip south and 49 on the trip back. I'm not complaining at that, even though I get more on the local, slower, roads.

The difference would be because it was uphill all the way to Southampton and downhill all the way back ;)

I was a bit worried about you driving back yesterday through all the wind and rain, or did you manage to keep ahead of it?

At least you had the wind behind you coming back...... hence the reduced mpg!

I must admit, if I were to ever do those two journeys, it would have to be with a week in between, not just one day!

Morning all! Glad you had a safe journey Chris.

Another snowy day in Hertfordshire. I heard on the newspaper review this morning that a university professor has spotted changes in the sun which they've managed to model back through history. They are predicting that we are due another mini ice age of the type that happened a couple of hundred years ago when the Thames froze over. This is due in the 2030s.

Hopefully we will know the outcome of Brexit by then and whether it is still possible to buy and live in a pied a Terre somewhere warm and away from the ice storms. Brrrrrrr....
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.
