Seasons greetings to one and all NPers :)

I hope it all passes off without too much stress.

A small anecdote...one which I think conveys the transition of a young person from scholar to student ;)

DD sees the bottle of Absinthe I have brought in to the house.

"Oh no." She exclaims. "That stuff is horrible, and lethal."

"I was going to suggest you take it back with you, but if it's horrible..."

    "Can I ?!!!!! Fantastic."

And there we have it. The student will make a rational assessment, until it involves seriously strong alcohol :D

    :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
The lure of intoxication will out!

Actually, present-day Absinthe isn't as lethal as it was in the days of the post-impressionists, so you're both ok!

Have a good Christmas, nice people :)

I too won't be on for the next few days as I'm spending it with family. I'm back at work on Wednesday as it's best to start now on what's going to be a hectic January than suffer for the whole of the month as the extra 60 hours over 5 days makes all the difference.

Stay safe and I hope everyone enjoys it!
Seriously good Yule-tide greetings, CK, and I haven't forgotten about the interrogation you are due on t'other place, but events overtook me! :D

One to look forward to in the New Year? :rotfl:

For some reason I thought Hanukkah was at the same time as Christmas this year, but of course that was last year, wasn't it?

Anyway, just discovered it ended d on 20th.
And I haven't wished anyone a happy one.
    :(:(:(

I shall have to unpack the sackcloth and ashes. :(

Anyway, I hope that those of you who celebrated had a good one!

Oops. Belated Happy Hanukkah to all NP who celebrate it from me too. :)
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    And from me!

And Happy Christmas to everyone who's celebrating it. Mr ivyleaf has found the tree decorations at the eleventh hour, but we don't really need them now as Ds bought some new ones.

We didn't manage to find the nice present we'd bought for DD1 6 weeks ago and put "in a safe place", though! Hopefully it will come to light in time to be her birthday present instead. :o

ETA just seen your Christmas lights Maggie! Lovely!

I'm at home, on the sofa. Dinner's in the fridge to be cooked tomorrow.
No massive food overload, not because I'm "being good" but because I am realistic to realise that there's no way I could eat EVERYTHING I dreamt of. There is a limit to how much food a little old person can eat.

    :)

Nobody's here, nobody's coming, I'm not going out.

On reflection .... I could probably have enjoyed more chocolate, but I appear to have under-bought a bit in that dept. Never mind. I won't go short. I've chocolate biscuits (450g + 350g), a santa (150g) and 250g of soft-filling chocolates. I've also 2½ bars of 30p cheapo supermarket chocolate bars ... so I'll get through.

Merry Christmas everyone. Hope you have a lovely day.

And to all of the Jewish NPs, sorry I missed Chanukah.

    Merry Xmas one and all.

Of all the days, I have had toothache today. managed to find an emergency private dentist (after NHS direct took 7 hours for the dental triage to call me back!) who has prescribed antibiotics. just hope that is what I need and they do work.
