Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Today I've said "that's it" for food shopping and even found the Round-Tuit to do some prep. Thing is, if I "cook" too much/long I go off all food and simply wouldn't want/fancy what I've just made. So prepping early makes sense...it also means I can dip in/out of it when I fancy it, on a whim ... and walk away when I'm bored of it.
Today I've mostly roasted the spuds, I've half cooked the parsnips, ready now for roasting and I've combined a lot of the nut roast ingredients. All that lot are boxed up in the fridge.
If the wind's in the right direction tomorrow I'll cook the nut roast and box it up.
My fridge has a trifle in it
I think that's a first. I regretted not buying one last year - and so this morning when I saw them I got one. I wanted a chocolate trifle, but there were none at all (I suspect they've been relegated to "too old fashioned/nobody wants them") but this is just a bog standard/sell any time type (£1.49 @ 4ldi) ... but it's a trifle.
There's no pressure on me to get round to making one as I've bought one - but as that's got a date of 3 January on it I could still make one if I fancy it this week.0 -
My nephew (aged 5) is confused. He goes to a Church of England school in a little village. He is used to the names "Jesus" and "Christ", but not together, as somehow he has got it into his head that "Jesus Christ" is swearing.
Fast forward to Christmas songs and carols and Mary's Boy Child. "Mummy, why are we singing a song with swearing in?"Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? It is. He is absolutely gorgeous and has his auntie and uncle wrapped round his little finger. You think he's really grown up as he asks Siri questions like "what's the biggest planet in the solar system?" but then brings you back to normality with "Siri why is my dad such a poopy pants?"Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? And what did Siri say?
I'm off Siri. He's no fun any more. He either refers me to google or says he can't help me with that.(I just lurve spiders!)

Well, I'm heading off to Southampton later this morning and won't be back online until I return on Tuesday.
So I'll take the opportunity now to wish all NPs seasonal felicitations. Hope whatever you're doing, it's good.0 -

Safe journey!
Hope you're not going by train. According to the news this morning, it seems that loads of main lines are out of action.
Very strange to schedule maintenance works for Christmas Eve.
Some are out of action until next Thursday.(I just lurve spiders!)
