Estate agent 'waste of space' wording annoys me.
They have a limited number of characters they can type into RM... usually wasted with superfluous fluff where sound information could go.
One old chestnut I saw this morning was "first to see will buy"... so I checked. Obviously not as it was on with a previous agent since May last year and nobody bought it
When I see "highly sought after", I always mentally complete the phrase "... by the drugs squad usually"
"Stunning" is another. No, it usually means "pretty tidy, pretty clean".
Or "... are excited to bring to market.." - no you weren't excited, it was just yet another house listing to be added. Nobody was excited... nobody.0 -
DW and I both remember an agent describing a house as being in "one of Hendon's most premier roads".No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Yes, I've seen premier roads.
There's also something round here called the golden triangle, which is "just a couple of roads directly behind the shops".
Popular residential area = bit of a rough estate.
Rarely available = there's only 5 houses in the whole road, so they don't come up.
Same owner for 40-50-60 years = needs everything doing... electrics, skimming, heating, plastering, redecorating. Looks OK, but don't scratch the surface as there are 40-50-60 years of mates and bodges nobody's uncovered yet.
There's a "funny one" just reduced a bit today. One of those overgrown places, where the owner's old, that turned into a "body found" story. The police had to put a call out for his next of kin. Natural causes. It sold for £225k in December 2017, reappeared all spruced up at £320k last May. It's now down to £305k. Still overpriced. He's done nothing more that empty it, kitchen, bathroom, redecorate and clean it. By comparison, a neighbour in the road put theirs up at £284k and it sold at £274k. Asking £95k for the work done is taking the mick. It hadn't been changed at all, nor added to, just "all the basics".0 -

Make an offer?
I never wanted it. It's at the end, by the entrance through to the open/play field. Also, the layout's all wrong for me: lounge overlooking road and not the back garden.
I'd have considered viewing the other one 3 doors down, as that wasn't by the field and, at the time, they were asking £35k less. It was also better laid out and had an existing conservatory.
They were never in my originally chosen spots either... just ended up on the list after I'd looked further out... and further out ... and further out ....0 -
The market is very quiet right now, so I think you have taken the right course with your six months rental. You are comfortable for at least the next six months. Hopefully, more will come on the market in a few weeks time, and you will find just what you want.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Oh PN
I'm so sorry. I hope the right place turns up extremely soon!

I'm sure you're well aware of this, PN, but beware offers from EAs! I thought this might entertain you.
We're down at the caravan (Bwlchtocyn, LL53 7BT if you wanna take a look at the property round here ) so OH is going for as many walks as he can manage when it isn't blowing a hooley AND chucking it down... One or other he can cope with, but not both! :rotfl:
He talks to a lot of dog walkers. He saw what he describes as a really stylish 1930s bungalow (further along the road from our caravan park turnoff, closer to the really posh and expensive hotel) which is having a new building put up in the garden.
A local dog walker who lives on the road down to the beach got chatting with OH about property... She told him that local EA offered her first chance for the bungalow. Not interested, but the bungalow finally went for HALF of what she was offered it for. Abersoch and surrounding area is crazy for prices! :eek:0 -
Evening all.
All these newbies I don't recognise . Is Sue still Single? Is Graham still in Devon? Where is NeverDespairGirl, Generali, "ad hominem attack" carolt, chucky, Mr B and Pickles110564 ? Ah, memories...
Does anyone know where I can get my house rewired? Thanks.
Edit: oops, used wrong account . Bloody sockpuppets.

I am still single...but happily so.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0
