I've been doing some adulting, I've started to pay into my private pension again. I don't earn enough to automatically qualify for the work based one and although I can opt into it (without a contribution from them as I am below that cut off), I already have feelers out for moving on to somewhere new.

I still love it there and the flexibility it has but there are a few things which make it unviable for a long term future with them.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Off today to see the urologist to find out how successful my latest op has been.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

North facing... So back garden and back of house is South facing. Depends a bit on which rooms are where! ;)

We face SW and the main bedroom gets incredibly hot in summer. Living room not so much, as it's a through room so back half is shaded. Kitchen pleasantly cool in summer but a bit Brrrrr in winter. LOL

Back garden is long enough that we still get plenty of sun at the back of the garden. Front garden gets incredibly hot, with the heat reflected off the front of the house too. Great for our potted agapanthuses though - they love the heat. Do have to try and keep them watered though, which is difficult when we're away for weeks in Wales! ;)

The appointment today was booked for 12.30. I got seen at 1.30. The test that's needed takes 6 hours, so I've been booked in again for Thursday at 10.00.

    :(

You'd have thought somebody would've thought this through from previous experience and come up with a way of managing timescales and appointments that works.... e.g. did anybody scan through the list and think "Hey, that'll not work ... but if I shift that 12.30 to the 1 slot, the person on the 1 slot can do 1.30 as theirs only takes 4 hours.

This is where waste comes into the system..... nobody's able to apply thought, brains and logic.

Often, too, the hours a consultant is willing to work means that resources are wasted as the consultant's golf times don't match with patient requirements. There's many a bed "blocked" as "only the Dr can discharge somebody - and he only comes on Mondays, Wednesdays and Friday mornings". Dad was in hospital and I phoned them to find out how things were going and they said "nothing will happen until Monday as the Dr doesn't come in at the weekend, so he can't be discharged".

Yes, the nurse I'm seeing on Thursday asked pointedly who had booked me in for 12.30, whilst standing in front of the chap who had booked me in for 12.30.

Today, on the other hand, things went remarkably well. I needed some medical appliance supplies, rang the appliance company this morning, and an hour later my GPs had issued an electronic prescription back to the company.

Sorry to hear about the hospital problems, GDB :(

I have an urgent appointment at one of our local-ish ones on Monday and atm I'm supposed to be at Radiology for a scan and seeing the consultant somewhere else in the complex, both at the same time...

We've been on holiday to the Isles of Scilly for a short break. Came back before the storms, luckily, as would have had problems getting off the islands then.
Lovely places, like being stuck in a time warp. Highly recommended.
