Default advice please

Options
Hi I have questioned a default on my credit file from Lloyds which has recently been passed to Wescot.
I am in a DMP with Stepchange and have greatly reduced my debt.
all other defaults have long dropped off my credit file bar two with Lloyds.
I have a default letter from them dated May 2011 & I am pretty sure if I look back though other older correspondence there will defaults issued before this as I have been in my DMP since 2009.
Wescot say that this has to stay on my file for 6 years, but it already has.
I did send them copies of the default letter but clearly they have not looked at this given the date.
any advice would be greatly appreciated as I am trying to build my credit rating.

When is the default on your file dated?

11 May 2011 but I think I received one before this, I am knee deep in paperwork trying to locate it!

In that case, it (and the previous ones) will no longer be visible to anyone searching your file.

thanks to be honest I am registered with all of those & the default is still showing on all. I have sent them a copy of the default dated 2011 but they appear to be dismissing this

This is why I asked what was the date of the default on your credit files.

If you believe the date is wrong, raise a dispute with the CRA and provide them your evidence.

Alternatively, you could deal directly with whoever placed the default.

There should be only one (correctly dated) default per account.

So its 2013 not, 2011? The notice you have isnt saying you are defaulted now, its saying you will be in the future, You could try and argue to get the default date changed

They can't just dismiss it. The 2013 date will have come from somewhere. Did you make any payments towards the debt since 2011?

Send a recorded delivery letter to whoever owns the debt as stated on your files, and attach a copy of the original default letter from Lloyds and request that your files are updated to reflect the correct date. Once they comply, the default should drop off automatically since 6 years will have passed already.

I have letter dated 11 May 2011 from Lloyds which is the default notice but on my credit files it is later, 2013, but they had already defaulted me in 2011.
I wrote to Lloyds & Wescot to dispute this and they have completely dismissed the default dated 2011
