What's your dirty little secret?

I thought I'd be a bit provocative and see which eco friendly habits we haven't yet cracked.

I'll start...

I drive a (big) car the 6 miles to work each day because we still have no shed to house my bike - it's at the in laws - and OHs bike already takes up too much space in our 900sqft house. Feeble, I know! Meanwhile, OH dutifully cycles the 25 mile hilly round trip!

We also have a fizzy water habit...and it comes in plastic bottles :(

I'm sure I could think of many more...

Must admit that I feed plastic bottles to whales, don't know why, must stop doing it.

Hm tricky one, think I will have to go for supermarket packaging. Still guilty of buying things in excess packaging e.g when they don't sell loose fruit or veg. And as I hate raw meat, I buy plastic containers of meat for the dogs because I can just flip it into their bowls :( BUT from time to time we get fresh pre prepared fish offcuts, and I'm just about overcoming the grimness of that :o

I dont recycle food waste into the council provided green bins and just put it in the regular bin. It needs emptying too regularly and gets stinky quick. Plus im lazy...

    I have & use a tumble drier.
I am *trying* to teach the sons to use the washing line but the heat & daylight conjunction means I can show them about 10 days a year...

I use my tumble drier, but only when the sun is shining, which is a bit
a r s e about face I know but it's powered by my solar panels. I also have a serious fizzy water habit, but I'm considering investing in a soda machine.

We have had a soda machine for over 20 years. We have good, hard, water (can water be hard???) which tastes fab anyway. Fizzy water 50/50 with apple juice - mmmmmmm.

We too use the tumble drier but try to do when max generation from the PV irrespective of the time of year - I just think towels need to be tumbled!

Other than that, not sure we have too many eco secrets, other than the new bean-to-cup coffee machine but not sure that is really any worse than a kettle or filter coffee machine and the coffee is soooooooooooooooo good.

Probably better than the instant coffee pod machines where the pods aren't recyclable.

    I don't recycle anything.

We don't have recycling bins in this building.

It's wonderful not having to sort things into about seven different bins/boxes/bags and remember which goes out what week.
