Spammy calls on landline

We've had TPS set up on our phones for many years and it works, largely, ok.

However we've been receiving calls twice a day for a good few weeks now from someone I call 'The winter of our discontent' lady!

Occasionally I listen right through the recorded message, it's for some sort of energy saving stuff (I'm not concentrating!), but it does say at the very end 'If you no longer wish to receive these calls press 9'.

So I have!

Doesn't work.

The number is withheld and it doesn't give the company name.

I guess it's from abroad, but my gut feeling is it's a UK company and therefore should be regulated somehow.

Any ideas?

Noooo ! By pressing 9 you are telling them that you are a 'live' telephone and therefore 'fair game' (in their eyes) for future calls.

I know hindsight is a wonderful thing, but you should have just hung up.

I am on TPS and get about 2 spam calls a day. I have given up answering it now as TPS seems to do nothing

I didn't do that initially, only after the first couple of months, coz they just kept on coming!
    Well it might've worked! :rotfl:

    £6.05 a month.

Best to get caller display, and just ignore them.

    Who is your landline with?

Sky now offers Sky Talk Shield which appears to offer identical features to trueCall, but built into the phone network itself - no additional equipment required.

The trueCall system is known to be very effective at getting rid of nuisance calls of all types.

    We're with Virgin.

Hubbie bought new phones last year and we no longer have Caller Display (a very restrained 'no comment' from me at this point!)
