Experian WARNING! - Wrong reports!

Its important to know that these reports are not correct. The report they show you is NOT the same as the info they have on their LIVE system.

My Experian shows a score of 999/999. So i applied for credit for the first credit card in 7 years. Refused....

Tried another company.... Refused.

Turns out that even though all 3 credit files show as clean. I have a Default from 5 years 11 months ago still showing on their live system. This will go on 1st of July!

So i questioned experian and they make all sorts of excuses about my address being wrong on my log in details for experian... i said how can that affect anything when my report has all my linked addresses on the report. They also couldnt explain why i have no electoral role info on my report but it shows on the live system!

I asked why im paying them for incorrect info? - they said it will be correct tomorrow 9am. I said i doubt it..

Oddly enough the MSE Experian report which shows another score has my electoral role info and shows 994/999 with no defaults...

Gets even better as their LIVE system doesnt show the credit searches which are supposed to show in real time but they have no record of them. They claim that its likely not their report which was searched.... i said thats funny since Sainsbury quoted a problem with my experian report for being rejected... I dont have any emails from either Virgin or Sainsbury so i have no idea even if they went through or not. The credit matcher on Virgin came back with an error saying they could not validate my identity.

These credit agencies are a joke. They need to be regulated and fined when they screw up... they hold to much power.

I would have been rejected for a mortgage today had i not figured this out!

    Hi Pandamonia,
    i had a similar issue,
we recently just got a new mortgage, but beforehand going through the application process i checked my experian,
turns out i wasn't on electoral register (even though i was) and there was a bit of other info they didn't have,
i had to contact council and asked them to email me a letter saying i was regisered as apparently the council only update the system every 4 weeks, but i was on register 2 years!
needless to say, experian had it all updated 2 days later and luckily the credit searches were done the day after that so i am glad i got it sorted just in time.
but how are their systems not up to date??
it needs authorities to check they manage these accounts properly and update them accurately.
can really cost you especially if you are not keeping track on your credit score as i imagine a lot of people don't bother if they know they have had no problems with debt etc..
did you get it sorted now?
When the chips are down, go for broke and put them all on Red!:p:beer:

Im not sure as i cant see their live system. The default is technically there till the 1st of July but its not viewable by me but its is by a credit search! Im just glad the searches never went on the file for some reason so luckily its like i never applied. We will see soon!

Don't you read these forums? If there's one takeaway it is credit scores mean absolutely nothing it's the data which is the key. You say they have power - they have absolutely zero power they do not determine if you will get a credit card or not. What exactly is your gripe? If you have a default you have a default do you need to pay a credit reference agency money to know this?

What 'LIVE' system are you talking about?? You admit in your reply to the second poster that you can't see this 'live' system so how do you know what is on it? Whose 'live' system are you talking about anyway?
It is also very strange that there are no searches on any of your credit files in respect of the declined applications for credit which you are attempting to blame on the different information contained in this 'live' system which you admit to having never seen.

i am not sure what the "original poster" means by "live" but the issue i had was only to do with incorrect info which i would have expected them to have ie electoral register after so long of being on it, glad i checked mine as something as simple as that has a big impact on mortgage decisions etc..
pretty sure if you have a default it only seen for 5 or 6 years?? but will be on the score for longer.
i have fortunately never sp much as missed a payment but i would advise even the surest of people just check their basic info like address and electoral register info is on there before going for mortgage or large loans.

The OP might be referring to the system GiffGaff use and that appears to be updated daily...where as say Clear score or Noddle seem to be upto 2 months behind with correct details.

Newsflash it's been free to get your pointless score AND the more important stuff like your actual credit report from Experian since Feb 2017:

Reference agencies provide their score usually based on the information covering the last 12 months, banks, etc. look at all 6 years, generally with an emphasis based on the last 3 years
